Your Business Area

The AstraZeneca’s standard framework for Lean is led out of our Global PMO and governed centrally by our Lean Centre of Excellence team. With our support these standards and strategies are then executed locally by the regional Lean teams, spanning 26 sites and 6 global functions.

The Lean CoE have a strong long-term ambition to drive a Lean transformation and embed mature Lean ways of working throughout Global Operations. Looking to the future, our 2025 vision now sees our challenge to optimise and sustain Lean as our Licence to Operate, underpinning our vision so that the Global Operations teams align with Lean and how it will unlock our future success.

You will have accountability for leading the Lean Business Process Management strategy for Operations. You will redefine the future development and digitisation of the Operations Process Framework and play a key role in the delivery of our 2025 strategy.

You will be passionate about digital as our aspiration is to accelerate the use of digital solutions. You will develop the digital vision, defining how digital and BPM can be combined to drive increased efficiency and business value.

Being a part of our international team you need to be able to travel approximately 50% of your working time.

What you will do:

As Global Lean Business Process Owner, you will:

  • Lead global process networks to drive BPM supporting business goals and meeting process maturity targets.
  • Lead the transformation and digitisation of the Operations Process Framework
  • Be responsible for the global standards for BPM and drive continuous improvement
  • Provide training materials, specialist advice and coaching to Operations colleagues
  • Drive adherence to the global standards
  • Use internal best practice and external benchmarking to raise the bar of what good looks like

Digital:

  • Own and lead the digital BPM solutions working closely with the allocated IT resources to implement system updates
  • Provide leadership to the digitisation of BPM across Global Operations with an emphasis on adding value/waste elimination.
  • Partner with IT specialists across the organisation where digital BPM solutions are being developed in order to connect the activities and maintain alignment with the digital vision

You will also:

  • Coach teams to develop strategic and annual Lean plans that deliver required uplift in Lean maturity and business value
  • Be a Lean inspiration to others, a champion for Lean and a senior Lean role ensuring Lean is embedded into all that is done.
  • Provide coaching and Lean training to ensure colleagues build and maintain the required levels of Lean competence. Be a Mentor to emerging Lean specialists.
  • Represent AZ externally, acting as a brand ambassador and for AZ as a great place to work.
  • Provide change Management/Leadership in support of both transformational and incremental improvements to Business Process Management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to undergraduate degree level or higher in a Manufacturing, Engineering or related technical/business field – equivalent experience will be taken into consideration
  • Demonstrate significant industry related experience in Lean/Six Sigma/BPM projects and programs
  • Expertise in process & project management
  • A track record of delivering business impact and sustained change.
  • Experience of the application of Lean to improve complex end to end supply chains and value streams
  • Experience of working collaboratively with cross functional teams and building key networks
  • Interacting with all levels of the business (shop floor to senior leader) & understanding of multi-site challenges and how Lean principles support & drive continuous improvement
  • In depth knowledge of Lean/BPM standard methodology from the external world and other related industries
  • Broad understanding of relevant IT systems – particularly Nimbus used to directly support BPM
  • Keen interest and strength in the area of maximizing data/digital to drive business value through BPM, as well as a strategic attitude towards the governance and evolution of digital standards and capabilities

The location identified reflects our primary target location for this role but as a Global Operations Network for the right individual  there may be an option to base your activity from another of our key operations facilities, including: Macclesfield, UK; Sodertalje; Wuxi; North Ryde; Gaithersburg, MD; Newark, DE.
