Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Mobility Specialist to join our People Relations team. 

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that any international move is compliant and to minimise the risks for the business in relation to global mobility. 

You will use your knowledge of global mobility trends, policies and legislation to offer global mobility expertise and advise to other members of the business and set processes in place for managing global relocation requests.

This role is open globally internally and to external candidates in Beijing.

What you will be doing:

  • Liaising with relevant contacts within Informa Group and T&F to bring structure and a consistent approach to all international move requests and enquiries from Talent Acquisition and candidates regarding global locations. 
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team and HR Business Partners globally to understand the territories that will be feasible to recruit within and advising where it will not be possible due to regulatory and risk issues.
  • Identify where awareness/education will be of benefit and work with others in the People Team and Internal Communication to deliver training/information to the business about global mobility.
  • Advising managers and HRBPs on whether a business case is robust enough to be sent for approval and managing expectations around the feasibility and likelihood of support for proposed/requested moves.  Work to ensure criteria for selecting people for moves or for accommodating personal requests is legal, fair and consistent, and in line with business priorities. Ensure colleagues are treated in line with efforts to manage and develop talent and encourage diversity.
  • Liaise with internal and external parties in relation to assessing and securing compliance in relation to employment, taxation, immigration, and other regulatory aspects.
  • Act as the main point of contact for an employee, relevant managers and HR Business Partners regarding an international assignment, for any matters relating to an international move.
  • Working with the Immigration Specialist to understand immigration requirements, costs and timeframes for colleagues and family members relating to international moves.  Help to facilitate visa applications and co-ordinate to align these to the timeframe of the move/relocation.
  • Working with People Relations teams, shared services, payroll and benefits teams to ensure all aspects of the colleague’s pay and benefits are administered in accordance with the relocation and regulatory requirements.
  • Support for colleagues in relation to planning and preparing for their move – this may involve advising/helping with aspects such as shipping personal belongings or storage, housing, schooling, utilities, understanding healthcare systems, and registering with local services.  It may also involve engaging with external expertise such as taxation advisors and similar for the colleague and for the business.
  • Signpost support for colleagues relocating, both practical in relation to relocation matters and adapting to the new location and escalating any personal support matters to relevant colleagues in the People Relations team if any concerns are identified where the colleague may need additional measures to integrate well into their new location.

Qualifications

  • Previous global mobility experience, working across the whole globe (North and South America, UK, Europe, APAC, China, Australia)
  • A solid understanding of global immigration legislation
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work with and advise senior leaders in respect of strategy and direction.
