The Role

RWS is currently transforming its global payroll systems, consolidating and transitioning the operation with Activ8. The Global Payroll Lead will lead the continued implementation of Activ8, working alongside HR, Finance and the Business Applications team, ensuring continued delivery while the project transitions into a BAU state while leading the team.

Responsibilities 

The smooth running of the payroll function is a key critical function for the group.  As the leader of the Group Payroll team within finance, you will be responsible for, though not limited to:
* Act as a SME for the Group on all matters pertaining to global payroll.
* Lead, mentor and develop the global payroll team of circa 10 people.
* Maintain alignment of HRIS and Payroll efforts with the goals and objectives of the HR and Finance organisations, working with all stakeholders to agree and implement global working practices and internal procedures that support the HRIS and Payroll strategy.
* Drive the development and effective use of the new Payroll outsourcing to deliver efficient business processes, management information and analysis and maximise functionality. 
* Develop and implement global practices for data entry and report criteria to deliver effective data tracking and global reporting capabilities to meet business needs. 
* Work with the HR and Finance teams to develop key metrics and analyses to support transparency, facilitate discussion of business process improvements and recommend related initiatives. 
* Ensure that accurate and clear documentation and process manuals are designed and maintained for all Payroll processes and that training is provided as required. 
* Create and maintain a risk / issue log, driving resolution and escalating as necessary for change management issues. 
* Support the project by developing and implementing a flexible change management methodology / framework for the delivery of projects, working closely with IT for integration into the existing IT change management process

Qualifications & Experience

The Group Payroll Lead will require a blend of global payroll processing and accounting, presentation skills, data management and technological know-how.

* Extensive experience of leading a global payroll function within complex, global company.
* HRIS & Payroll outsourcing and vendor management experience. 
* Experience working in a matrix environment with a full range of HR & Payroll systems. 
* Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills. 
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills with the ability to facilitate problem solving discussions. 
* Be comfortable acting as an adviser and presenting to senior stakeholders. 
* Able to prioritise and manage tasks in a high-pressure environment and meet strict deadlines. 
* Able to effectively manage and mentor team members. 
* Strong attention to detail and good administrative skills but the ability to take a strategic view.
* Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively to both internal and external stakeholders.
