Global R&D Innovation Leader is a Manager role
The Mars Petcare R&D organization is committed to operate effectively at a global scale, transferring products and technology efficiently to enable rapid global deployment of winning innovations. To be successful these global programs must be run in conjunction with all relevant global functions such as Marketing Supply, Services and Finance, Commercial and Engineering.
The job holder is the Global R&D Deployment Lead for the Global Innovation center, representing Latin America and responsible for driving key elements for a successful deployment in support of the Petcare business.
What are we looking for?
- BS/MS in Food Science Engineering, Food Chemistry, Chemical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
Minimum
- Must speak English and Spanish.
- Portuguese desired
- Good understanding of relevant Pet food manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of how raw materials interact with manufacturing technologies.
- Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
- Proven ability to transfer technical knowledge and skills.
- Project Management experience and expertise.
- Minimum 5 years in R&D or Engineering development environment
- Ability to travel up to 25%-50% of the time
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, experimental design software, and preferably recipe formulation software.
Preferred
- 5 years in R&D or Product development environment in Food Industry
- Multi-site working experience
- Strong Excel skills, with the ability to write technical reports
- Minitab and/or JMP statistical knowledge
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Support transfers of new products and technologies from the Global team into Latin America as well as supporting development of products for other regions e.g. North America.
- Responsible as Technical Project Lead on behalf of the Global Innovation Center to lead the project, working closely with the receiving units ensuring sustainable solutions are available for a successful deployment.
- Responsible for engaging then aligning Global Innovation Centre teams in support of the deployment project where additional development is necessary. Participate in pre-project feasibility at the receiving site.
- Accountable to identify any additional lessons learned from a project perspective to enhance an existing technology during a deployment, then responsible to work closely with that region in creation of a road map to implement changes.
- Responsible for implementing defined global standards in recipe / product design which may also include an element of process, and in doing so building strong connections and ways of working across manufacturing facilities globally.
- Responsible for communication (both written and verbal) of key project / technical breakthroughs and findings as well project risks, then inform and influence project team and key stakeholders.
- Responsible to provide support ensuring appropriate expertise is developed within receiving sites through training during deployment in collaboration with other departments.
- Responsible through strong collaboration, to review / input into new or existing technology standards together with the Global and Regional Engineering teams.
- Responsible for supporting receiving site with their product line start-up planning and activation through collaboration with R&D, Supply and Engineering in some cases providing steering to ensuring a successful start–up.
- Responsible to manage availability including flexibility due to differing time zones, also ensure availability at times of commissioning at a receiving site where necessary,
- Responsible for the effective planning of additional GIC project activities to support a deployment including identification of key project milestones and deliverables.
- Development of new raw material, products and technologies and their scale-up to factory network in the relevant technology segment
