Job Description

The Global Services Medical Device Training Specialist (Maintenance) is a subject matter expert instructor for BD Life Science medical devices with a specific focus on instrument and system maintenance. This professional will deliver tier level instruction in both applications and technical (maintenance) training. The Training Specialist will concentrate in one or more of BD Instruments or Systems family groups. The Training Specialist will enhance the competencies of individual employees and/or customers by leading and facilitating a performance based training environment that will boost workplace performance in alliance with BD core values and business objectives. The Training Specialist will be responsible for performing training needs assessments, delivering curriculum and learning materials and for managing all phases of training interventions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead scheduled systems training sessions in BD Life Sciences for Applications, Field and Remote service, Dealers and Distributors (Contractors) and customers.
  • Execute training against demand planning schedule for applications and technical training globally. Participate and excel in the Global Instructor Certification and Qualification Program Identify training needs by evaluating strengths and weaknesses.
  • Translate requirements into trainings that will groom customers and BD Associates employees for the next step of their career path.
  • Customize training materials to enhance student learning.
  • Direct structured learning experiences and monitor their quality results.
  • Acclimate new hires to the business and conduct orientation sessions.
  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behavior.
  • Periodically evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect any changes.
  • Stay abreast of the new trends and tools in employee development.
  • Participate in services escalations, Service Bulletins and Extended Core Teams for New Products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Medical Device Maintenance Acumen.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction to create concise, effective communication materials.
  • Global and culturally focused.
  • Effective organization, global coordination and goal setting.
  • Adult Education Principles.
  • Facilitation and training principles in multi-modal delivery environment.

  • Safety – Promote safety through Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and closely follow BD Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated background in medical equipment maintenance (Required).
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, HR or related field/experience.
  • 2 or more years’ experience with education training and delivery in medical diagnostic systems.
  • 3 or more years of project leadership and management.
  • 5 or more years’ experience implementing projects within a cross functional organization highly desired.
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management software.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with talent management and succession planning.
  • Ability to conduct cost-benefit analysis and calculate training ROI.
  • Sound decision making and organizational skills.
  • Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and reach.
  • Ability to view computer monitor and use keyboard for prolonged period of time.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged period of time, handling, fingering, listening, near vision, midrange vision in connection with performing essential functions.
  • Job location: Baltimore, Maryland
  • Some global travel maybe required.
