Global Solutions Director is a strategic thinker with a passion for solution and product development and the company’s clients. In this role, the Global Solutions Director drives innovative ideas, solutions, and products through leadership and cross-functional collaboration. The role oversees the analysis, development and implementation of harmonized business strategies taking into consideration the overlap and mechanics across all business units and work streams.
The Global Solutions Director ensures that the company’s solution strategy executes on its business strategy by aligning solution and product objectives with the voice of the client as well as the company’s growth objectives. This requires maintaining close relationships with clients and prospects to allow a solid understanding of current and future market needs by researching and identifying appropriate market segments.
The Global Solutions Director serves as the company’s solution expert and provides training and support to cross-functional teams to enable the effective marketing, sales, and fulfillment of solutions and products through all stages of the client lifecycle. This might also include making recommendations for developing and/or acquiring new capabilities by forming and leading strategic partnerships or alliances. The Global Solutions Director will have managerial responsibility for regional solutions architect teams.
The Global Solutions Director reports to the VP of Global Solutions and is an active contributor to the Regulated Industries Division business strategy as a member of the Leadership Team and provides support on strategic business matters to ensure the competitiveness and long-term success of the company. In addition, the Global Solutions Director will represent the company at bid defense presentations, client meetings and, where needed, trade/industry events.
Essential Functions
Market Definition
- Identifies and validates market problems for both existing and future clients.
- Seeks new market opportunities by leveraging the company’s core competencies and solicits input for developing new core competencies that realize identified markets.
- Provides guidance on geographical market expansion and territory development based on company objectives.
- Supports the assessment and viability of potential acquisitions and assists with post acquisition transition planning.
- Defines market segments and size for solution and product under consideration.
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for analyzing, evaluating and creating original thought leadership content for agreed upon topics.
Cost-Benefit Analysis
- Determine feasibility and potential sales success for new and existing solutions and products.
- Provides support for strategy, technical, and marketing aspects of all solutions and products.
- Liaises with VP of Sales and Managing Director on product value proposition based on client need.
Strategic Product and Solution Planning
- Contributes to marketing and go-to-market plans for the company’s solutions and products.
- Recommends buy/build/partner decisions for competencies/capabilities needed to execute on the solution strategy.
- Positions solution and product strategy for all markets and all buyer types by providing the definition to support general positioning and messaging strategies for the Marketing and Sales departments.
Support
- Develops and documents solution knowledge and trains affected personnel to enable them in their respective roles (e.g. Production, Marketing, Sales/AM)
- Supports Production, Sales, AM, and Marketing with solution and product expertise and client-facing activities such as presentations, product demos, calls, RFPs.
- Aides in the development of customer proposals and bids.
Work schedules
- Twelve months per year, standard schedule as needed to successfully meet management goals and objectives and meet employee and client needs including a reasonable amount of additional hours as necessary.
Travel requirements
- Approximately 10-20% on the road/overnight travel per year.

- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, CAT tools, Office 365/Skype, CRM/Aurora/other production software).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company financial information as well as other sensitive information.
- A team player who can collaborate effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
Possess teamwork and consensus-building skills with an ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Familiarity with and understanding of inter-departmental functions in order to most effectively manage projects and supervise staff.
- Ability to develop systems and processes from the ground up, communicate those systems outwardly, and win support from colleagues and supervisors as needed
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in relation to work responsibilities, working with minimum supervision.
Qualification profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Four-year college/university degree in Business, English, Foreign Language, Social or Applied Science, or other related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of value generation and problem solving as it relates to client needs required.
- Demonstrated successful experience writing technical documents and proposals within the translations industry required. Strong preference for experience within the life sciences vertical.
- Understanding of financial concepts as it relates to cost-benefits analysis and pricing strategies required.
- Minimum five years demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects within the translation/localization industry with preference for background in life science translations.
- Demonstrated successful leadership or mentoring experience, minimum of three years.
- Cultural awareness and experience in collecting information from diverse stakeholders required
- Exceptional track record of successfully managing relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and management team.
- Verbal and written fluency in at least one foreign language (non-English) a plus.
