The Specialty Diagnostics Group (SDG) offers a wide range of diagnostic test kits, reagents, culture media, instruments and associated products in order to serve customers in healthcare, clinical, pharmaceutical, industrial, and food safety laboratories. Thermo Fisher’s healthcare products are used to increase the speed and accuracy of diagnoses, which improves patient care in a more cost efficient manner. This group has four divisions: Immunodiagnostics, Clinical Diagnostics, Transplant Diagnostics and Microbiology Diagnostics. 
 
For our Global Trade Compliance Team we are looking for you as a
Global Trade Compliance Specialist (m/f/d)
Region: Hennigsdorf/Berlin

This position is responsible for ensuring all Thermo Fisher Diagnostic import transactions into the UK, Norway and Switzerland are completed within applicable laws and regulations. The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will support the Global Trade Compliance Manager by helping to develop and maintain the import compliance programs. This includes, without limitation, adherence to applicable British, Norwegian, Swiss and EU laws and regulations pertaining to international trade as well as ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain programs, policies, procedures and controls to ensure site-wide compliance in accordance with guidelines of British, Norwegian and Swiss customs authorities.  
  • Ensure day-to-day monitoring of all imports/shipments from other SDG business units into the UK, Norway and Switzerland.
  • Audit import entry filings; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or protest as appropriate; verify valuation methodology.
  • Ensure proper classification, valuation, and origin determination of imported/export of goods.
  • Manage import recordkeeping process in compliance with guidelines set forth by UK, Norwegian, Swiss and EU Customs law.
  • Ensure that proposed transactions are screened for Denied Person and Entities, restricted end-uses, and diversion.
  • Work with Global Trade Compliance Manager to address any issues with the Customs Administration and with associates worldwide to address customs issues in individual countries.
  • Assists in internal audits & assessments.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales, IT, and Engineering to develop and execute defined procedures.
  • Manage special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in import and/or export roles.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and German. Knowledge of Norwegian is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of HTS classification, as well as knowledge of British, Norwegian, Swiss and EU (UCC, Dual Use Regulation) laws and regulations. Knowledge of US (BIS, EAR, OFAC, ITAR) laws and regulations is an advantage.
  • Experience dealing with HM Revenue & Customs, Norwegian Customs (Tolletaten) and/or Swiss Federal Customs Administration (Eidgenössische Zollverwaltung).
  • Solid communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multitask, prioritize and be adaptable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly manipulate data and draw appropriate conclusions.
