The Government Affairs Lead will be a strategic and critical contributor to this direction, that:

• Drives integrated local  government affairs strategy to capitalize on opportunities/ manage risks
• Identifies and engages with key stakeholders and identify the right platforms and partnerships to implement shared Government Affairs and policy priorities
• Supports Health Policy shaping within the country in order to facilitate business  and health care sustainability and market access.
• The Government Affairs Lead  ensures that all country AstraZeneca health policy activities are compliant with Global and Local regulations, and truly patient focused.

Key Roles/ Responsibilities:

Political and Public Policy insight and guidance

• Keeps abreast of political developments and the potential implications of these for the organisation and applies this understanding to shape strategic actions
• Understands the national governments & supranational organisations policies as they affect AZ and develops the appropriate organisational responses to those policies and  advises on the company position in relation to those policies
• Understands the emerging  regulatory and reimbursement environment and ensures updating the organisation for emerging developments and impact

Executes government  affairs strategy and governs processes

• Drives integrated local government affairs strategy and plans to capitalize on opportunities/ manage risks
• Develops communications strategy including key messaging.
• Monitors the reimbursement environment for shifts in trends or behaviours, interprets the likely impact and lead initiatives aiming to shape marketplace changes to maximise opportunities for the organisation
• Works in close collaboration with Global Government Affairs.

Builds internal capability

• Ensures that local market gains understanding and responds to changes in the Government Affairs environment, while capitalizing opportunities /mitigating the risks that might arise from these.

Stakeholder Engagement and relationship building

• Creates strategies, identifies and develops relationships with external stakeholders, directly or through business leaders, who have understanding of the patient journey and engages appropriately with them in order to achieve organizational value.
• Ensures that AstraZeneca builds and maintains effective, ethical relationships with advocacy groups, think tanks, pharma associations , government officials and collaborates to gain patient insight.

The successful candidate profile should have:

• University degree in Political Science, Law, Economics or relevant fields
• Master’s degree in relevant field  such as health policy, would be considered anasset.
• Working experience and in depth understanding of Greek healthcare system
• Strong verbal and written skills in Greek and English language 
• Demonstrated strategic approach and business acumen
• Strong leadership, decision making and drive for results
