Eaton’s North American Sales Division is currently seeking a Government Sales Manager, Mission Critical to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC location. Relocation assistance will be offered. Position Overview: The position requires coaching, directing and training sales professionals (both directly and indirectly) in their government sales assignments to succeed at managing and developing the customer base, utilizing sales resources, driving products and the channels to market to achieve market share gains and sales targets throughout the region. In this function you will: Lead government-based initiatives across the zone, which includes multiple events, divisions and channels Understand various sales channels and federal, state and local government market segment needs to assist government sales personnel in developing value propositions Understand major competitors’ tactics, organization, distribution strategy and pricing while keeping management informed of trends and changes Lead with motivational communication abilities with an understanding for defining target customers and identifying prime opportunities at key accounts in the government segment Demonstrate the ability to manage appropriate budget dollars Work as a part of the government sales leadership team to drive best practices, processes and systems, which improve efficiency and effectiveness Help recruit, hire, train, develop, assign and continuously improve organizational capabilities in the zone’s government sales personnel to capitalize on the customer base Facilitate and analyze training/development needs of government zone personnel and help implement plans annually to assure continuous growth Help build a sales ladder for government sales engineers Support and provide customer trends, emerging technologies, program direction and business opportunity data from the zone to be incorporated into the government strategic plan Assure that strategic and district operation plans, major product launches and key programs are properly planned, executed and managed in support of our government growth Initiative Possess the ability to work across the sales organization and channels to position Eaton for success based on national customer influencers and buying processes in the segment Direct reporting responsibility When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum five (5) years of experience managing people Minimum five (5) years of experience selling into the electrical industry Must be ITAR compliant and possess the ability to obtain security clearance Possess and maintain a valid & unrestricted driver’s license Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred Qualifications: MBA from an accredited institution Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Experience in selling solutions 10 years of experience in the state and/or federal government and/or selling direct to the state and/or federal government Mechanical or electrical background Position Criteria: Thorough understanding of the federal government process and structure for program decisions, specifying and procurement Extensive network of relationships within federal government agencies Strong management of people skills, talent selection and recruitment, along with demonstrated ability to manage conflict and leadership skills Strong computer skills Thorough knowledge of energy solutions, service capabilities, power quality, distribution and control products Ability to travel up to 25% We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
