Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will join the Computational and Data Sciences Biologics Discovery Team and work on the development and application of generative models relevant to the design of therapeutic proteins and RNAs.  You will work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment with data scientists and molecular engineers.  This opportunity will let you see first-hand how early-stage large molecule drug development is conducted. You will use Machine Learning to create models relevant to the design protein sequences.  

Your specific responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Assist in data wrangling and cleaning

  • Develop, implement and evaluate generative models of proteins

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

  • 18 years or older

  • Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

  • Currently enrolled in one of the following before the internship starts AND completion of the first year of an MBA or Master’s or PharmD or Ph.D. program

  • an MBA program for an MBA internship

  • a Master’s program for a Master’s internship

  • a PharmD program for a PharmD internship

  • Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with protein sequences and/or structures

  • A great foundation in Machine Learning theory

  • The ability to learn and implement/modify new techniques quickly

  • Proven experience in applied data science.
