Grad Intern – R&D (Computational and Data Sciences)

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will join the Computational and Data Sciences team in Therapeutic Discovery, and work on algorithm development at the interface of machine learning and chemistry. The Grad Intern will work in a collaborative team environment with computational scientists, medicinal chemists, and engineers. In this role you will:
- Develop optimization and reinforcement learning methodologies for generative chemistry applications in small molecule drug discovery
- Apply data exploration and curation techniques to enhance existing chemical and transformation libraries for data driven models
- Develop and benchmark success criteria metrics compared to literature standards

Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR PhD program before internship starts
Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in cheminformatics, machine learning, and reinforcement learning
Proficiency in Python, and RDKit, scikit-learn, and PyTorch libraries
Familiarity and background with small molecule featurization techniques
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
