Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will be involved in research efforts in characterizing a key signaling pathway associated with immune hemostasis using experimental approaches such as genetic manipulation, enzymology, cytokine profiling, and immunophenotyping. The goal is to decipher how LoF or GoF in this pathway shapes the immune response to inflammatory insults in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases.
Your responsibility will include:
Design and implement a discovery research project.
Generate genetically modified cells and isolate primary mouse immune cells from transgenic mice.
Perform molecular biology, biochemical, and cell-based assays and immunophenotyping using FACS.
Review study-related literature
Analyze and interpret data and present experimental results at group meetings
Maintain good lab practice and follow all the safety regulations set by the Amgen EHSS.
The intern is encouraged to propose a new research project.

Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for a grad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older
Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
Currently enrolled in a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of Master’s OR Pharm D OR PhD program before internship starts
Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
Preferred Qualifications
Degree concentration(s) in biology-related scientific disciplines, preferably immunology
General lab skills in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell-based assay, primary immune cell/cell line handling, and flow cytometry.
Basic knowledge in enzymology and biochemical assay development.
