Grad Intern – R&D (ML for Proteins)
Live
This could be your everyday
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. During this program, you will apply state of the art machine learning techniques to the prediction of protein properties important for the development of novel drugs.
Amgen’s 10 – 13 week internship program offers significant project experiences that impact patient’s lives. Amgen, a biotechnology pioneer, discovers, develops and delivers innovative human therapeutics. Our medicines have helped millions of patients in the fight against cancer, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis and other serious illnesses.
The Protein Technologies team is responsible for crafting, planning, and completing the generation of key enabling DNA and protein reagents to support discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and ground breaking novel modalities across Amgen’s therapeutic areas.
This internship explores modern deep machine learning methods that can be applied to the problem of structure-based protein design and engineering. The successful intern will adapt algorithms from various fields and compare their relative performance. The final evaluation will determine which algorithms are further developed toward the ultimate goal of computational drug design. Well-suited applicants will have a background in machine learning and an interest in proteins.
The intern will gain hands-on experience in protein evaluation in an industrial setting and will have the opportunity to interact with various functions such as in Protein Technologies and Computational Data sciences. This opportunity will allow the intern to see first-hand how early-stage large molecule drug development is conducted.
This internship can be conducted in person at South San Francisco or remotely.
