Make a more meaningful impact to patients’ lives around the globe
With our ground-breaking pipeline, the outlook is bright. Be proud to be part of a place that has achieved so much, yet is still moving forward. There’s no better time to join our global, growing enterprise as we lead the way for healthcare and society.
Who we are
We are free – free from fear of failure, free to ask the right questions, make bold decisions, and dig deep into the biology of complex disease. And we take inspiration from within our BioPharmaceutical heritage, as well as beyond, exploring what we can take and apply.
The recently formed Early Careers team (based in R&D) has responsibility for a number of early talent programmes including Apprenticeships, Graduates, PhD studentships and Post-Doctoral Researchers. These industry-leading programmes provide fantastic opportunities for individuals to gain ‘hands-on’ experience of working in the biopharmaceutical industry on innovative science to deliver medicines to patients.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual to join our Early Careers team reporting to the Associate Director, Graduate Programmes R&D as the Graduate Programme Partner.
You will help to drive our two-year R&D graduate programmes in the US (Boston & Gaithersburg), UK (Cambridge), and Sweden (Gothenburg). Supporting each stage of our programmes (i.e. attraction, onboarding, induction, placement management, etc.) as well as promoting the programmes internally and externally. You will focus on the development of our early career scientists once they join us, supporting their communities and their personal learning and development during the two years that they are with us.
There are many partners across the programmes and you will establish relationships, collaborate and partner with these both inside and outside of AstraZeneca, including our early talent community, placement supervisors, the Talent Acquisition Team, other programme partners and university careers teams. You will also get the opportunity to work with our other Early Career programme partners and leaders on initiatives that span the breadth of R&D Early Careers.
You will get the opportunity to represent the R&D graduate programme at internal and external events as well as providing support and advice to placement supervisors and our graduates.
You will support the Programme Lead in gathering data to demonstrate the value the programmes deliver to R&D, as well as leading the communications strategy to share knowledge, maintain visibility with partners and to support the external visibility of the programme as part of the attraction strategy.
There will also be opportunities to support other Early Careers activities, including PhD studentships and university undergraduate ‘brand ambassadors’
It’s a really exciting time to work with the R&D Early Careers team.
What you will do
Work with the Talent & Acquisition team to plan attraction strategies, run recruitment events and lead the assessment centre process to deliver success.

Define communications strategy and provide regular communications on the programmes to raise visibility of programmes/opportunities across R&D
Maintain and develop the share-point information hub, workplace pages and develop nucleus webpages to support communications strategy.
Set metrics and gather data to track progress across R&D Early Talent activities – developing clear and easy to use dashboards and reports
Lead the 20-week student placement process. Advertise opportunities, secure placements, lead onboarding and offboarding and act as key contact for Imperial employees, AZ Supervisors and the students.
