职位概述

The Graduate Studies Support Officer is created as an important measure to enhance the quality of the postgraduate education at the University and to enhance the learning experience of the postgraduate research (PGR) students. Therefore, the post holder is expected to play a primary role in the implementation of the University’s research strategies and postgraduate education.

The Graduate Studies Support Officer is the position in the Graduate Studies Team to provide the university administrative and service responsibilities for postgraduate research students, in collaboration with multiple offices and departments across the university. The person will report to the Team leader of Graduate Studies Team in Research and Graduate Studies Office.

Main Responsibility and Accountability

1. Administrate the whole process of admissions, including dealing with enquiries regarding the application for studies, collaborating with XJTLU academic departments and liaising with the University of Liverpool PGR Admission Team for application status and issuing offer, etc.

2. Register the PGR students in the University Students Information Systems, and timely update students records in the Systems in collaboration with Registry;

3. Organise induction/orientation programme for new PGR students;

4. Manage with enquiries from research students and their supervisors, related to managing their work progress;

5. Monitor the study path of the PGR students in a pro-active manner via effective measures, such as reminders for each stage of their research study, to enable them to complete their research studies successfully;

6. Coordinate with academic departments and Academic Enhancement Centre on doctoral skills training programmes and Teaching Assistant trainings

7. Collaborate with academic departments to organise research seminars, workshops and other research events for postgraduate research students to enrich their research studies;

8. Cooperate with Finance Office in relation to PGR student fee reimbursement (e.g., stipend payment, research visit, conference fund and UoL fee recharge)

9. Work closely with colleagues and other relevant offices or departments to create a nice encouraging and enabling research environment for research students;

10. Support for post-doctoral recruitment and administration

11. Work closely with supervisors and XJTU to provide support to XJTLU postgraduate students;

12. Undertakes continuous professional development and training as required;

13. Undertakes related project work as required;

Position Qualification Requirement

Skills and Knowledge (技能)

1. Proficiency of spoken and written English;

2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

3. Knowledge of universities;

4. Excellent presentation skills, and skillful in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc);

5. Attention to details; highly organized; patient and follow-through;

6. Good team work spirit and problem solving capabilities;

7. Experience of working with mature students preferred.

Qualifications and Experience (资历)

1. Undergraduate degree plus 3 years of working experience, or equivalent

2. Experience of delivering services

3. Experience of working in the higher education sector is desirable
