We are now looking for a dedicated leader to join our Clinical Development department as Group Director within Immunology.

What you’ll do

In your role as Group Director - Immunology, you will provide leadership to scientists and physicians to ensure constant development of people as well as efficient resourcing to drive clinical programs forward. In partnership with the Senior Group Director of Clinical Development Immunology, you are responsible for shaping an inclusive culture of growth and development by leading as a role model - displaying our AstraZeneca values.

Depending on your preference, you can be based in Gothenburg, Cambridge, Gaithersburg, Durham or Warsaw.. Our research sites breathe collaboration and innovation that allow us to keep pushing the boundaries.

You will participate in clinical program activities and additional project work by collaborating with peers to ensure consistency of approach and implementation of standard methodology across the department.

  • Management accountabilities, including recruitment, retention and performance management
  • Collaborate with Late R&I capacity management team to ensure that program resource allocations and requests are accurate and updated
  • Drive improvement and implementation of new processes and systems by encouraging sharing and seeking findings across AstraZeneca

Essential for the role

To be a successful Group Director, we believe that you have a medical or scientific background and hold a MD, PhD, PharmD degree or equivalent. This is complemented by a broad clinical and research background and a comprehensive understanding of the medical aspects of drug development.

Additionally, you have:

  • >3 years’ experience of drug development in a pharmaceutical company
  • Relevant management experience

Desirable for the role

  • Research experience within immunology
  • Experience and knowledge of performance management, capacity management, budget management, and employment legislation
  • Specific experience in late stage pharmaceutical drug development
