Group Sales Manager
As Group Sales Manager, you will be responsible for growing the Sofitel Washington D.C. Lafayette Square’s existing Corporate and Incentive Group accounts and generating new business in order to maximize Group revenue, profits and market share.

What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Director of Group Sales, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Approach all encounters with guests and ambassadors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Sofitel standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include adhering to the proper dress code and wearing nametag while working.
- Comply at all times with Sofitel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Overseas revenue generating, goal setting and all activities related to the Corporate and Incentive Group Segments for the Sofitel Washington D.C. Lafayette Square.
- Responsible for leveraging Accor business travel related programs including GEMS and GSO.
- Actively participate in discussion and contribute recommendations for yielding strategies in rooms. Attend rooms merchandising meetings for both properties as travel/appointment schedule allows.
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding Corporate and Incentive Group revenue as determined by General Manager and Director of Sales and Marketing.
- Actively participates in business review process with all accounts on an ongoing monthly basis.
- Jointly responsible with Sales team in increasing REVPAR market share.
- Review and disseminate monthly tracking of accounts.
- Responsible to communicate new account data to reservations, GEMS, GSO.
- Responsible for managing the RFP process for all negotiated accounts in assigned market segments Maintain consistent schedule of Corporate and Incentive presentations to Meetings planners and Incentive houses as necessary.
- Responsible or jointly responsible for conducting annual customer appreciation party.
- Ensure professional and courteous service to all accounts.
- Create and develop ongoing promotions for key corporate accounts.
- Ensure travel agent FAM trips are scheduled and professionally conducted.
- Actively participate in trade shows as needed by hotel and corporate office.
- Develop, support and train Sales Coordinator.
- Work with Director of Sales & Marketing, Director of Group Sales and Director of Revenue Management in creating and establishing sales action plans.
- Coordination of sales activities with Global Sales Team as necessary. Conduct sales calls, participate in trade shows and entertain clients as needed
- Other tasks as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
- College degree and /or 5 years of equivalent industry experience in Group Sales or equivalent.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Delphi, property PMS is helpful.
- Complete understanding of pricing and yielding policies, sales and marketing promotions and sales SOP’s preferred.
- Understanding of related expenses preferred.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
- Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
- Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
- Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of a particular need.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests.
- Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
