Team Introduction 

 

SAP HANA, a modern high-performance in-memory database and data management platform, is one of the flagship software of SAP and a continuously growing product/service.    

 

HANA Transaction and Data Virtualization Team, located in Seoul, Shanghai and Xi’An, is one of the core development teams for HANA, covering a wide spectrum of technology components. It includes: Transaction processing; Data federation; Data replication; Database migration and table export/import; Elastic compute scaling; Metadata management; Connection and session management; In-memory Row Store for high-performance OLTP; Workload management; Workload capture and replay; Connector to Hadoop and BigData platforms.

 

The team has contributed to the success of SAP HANA significantly with new innovations (holding more than 100 registered or filed patents) and feature delivery in quality to the real systems.   

 

Expectation and Tasks 

 

Among the above listed component areas, we are looking for the talents especially in the below areas in the short term. However, the scope will not be limited only to them in the long run.   

 

• Workload capture and replay 
• Data replication  
• Database migration  

 

Workload capture and replay is a crucial technology to ensure software quality. It captures the incoming workloads inside DBMS engine, converts it to replayable format and then replays with exactly same transaction order. So, with that, customers can detect defects or regressions occurring at a new software version or at a new hardware configuration in advance – based on real workloads.   

 

Data replication is a critical technology to ensure real-time data virtualization with replicating a designated set of tables or sub-tables to a target system in a transaction-consistent manner. 

 

Database migration is a SAP HANA Cloud strategy roadmap item to enable and accelerate both on-premise and HANA Service customers onboarding HANA Cloud. Our team provides migration core services to this project, including SQL Migrator Advisor(SQL Parser based), Pre-Migration Database Checker, Catalog Export/Import, Data Migrator and HDI Container Migrator and respective micro services running inside the latest HANA Cloud. Technology stack starts from HANA Core, to K8s Micro Services.

 

Education and Qualifications / Skill and Competencies 

 

As we hire various types of contributors, we are open for talents who have solid background on computer engineering and who are passionate to learn, grow fast, work professional, and pursue real problem-solving with team work.

The below will be plus factors: 

• Fluency in one of C++, C, Java
• Fluency in English 
• Experience in SQL, Python, GoLang, Kubernetes, Docker
• Experience in administration, programming, or profiling on Linux environment 
• Experience with development tools such as Git, Gerrit, JIRA, Bugzilla, and CMake
