Job Description
Report to: PYP & MYP Academic Leadership Team that consists of Heads of PYP and MYP of the School International/Integrated Program
Responsibilities include, to:
- collaborate with the PYP and MYP Heads to articulate and map the English curriculum
- follow through the IB PYP and MYP subject guides, missions and objectives
- implement and develop the school integrated English curriculum
- “Focus on Learning” and support learners’ skill-based English language acquisition and
literature appreciation; prepare learners adequately for external examinations and international
English events and competitions
- coordinate and/or organize teacher professional development program
- coordinate the development of appropriates practices and resources to address how students
are catered for in the different school sections
Professionalism
- promote School education philosophy and values where possible
- serve as a professional role model for the team, promoting professionalism throughout all
aspects of school following the policies, demonstrating positivity, commitment in professional
communications and collaboration and accepting responsibility
Academic and Curriculum Leadership
- collaborate with the academic leadership team to implement the school curriculum, monitor the
progress and seek continuous Focus on Learning (FOL) improvement to ensure the
maintenance of high and improving standards
- participate in the Annual Planning Cycle and contribute to the planning and ordering of English
books/course materials
- collaborate with the academic leadership team to ensure lessons address each student’s
individual needs, interests, and skill levels
- collaborate with the EAL team to improve school academic program provision that cater for
students’ diversified needs
- review external examination results data and propose concrete action for improvement
- participate in teacher Appraisal process
- coordinate provision of PD for teachers
- participate in school Marketing events
- participate in and coordinate parent interviews, conferences and workshops
Learning and Teaching
- serve as a pedagogical role model for other teachers and strive to nurture an open-door policy
whereby teachers feel comfortable in observing either whole lessons or specific activities
- promote a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning
and child growth and development, to include formative assessment approaches such as peer
assessment, peer evaluation and peer presentations, etc.
- ensuring curriculum materials and resources are up-to-date and filed
- stay up-to-date with changes and development in curriculum and technology

- collaborate with teachers to design activities that engage the learner in tasks that require
analytical and critical thinking, questioning the known, problem solving and creativity
- stay up-to-date with changes and developments in curriculum and technology
Meetings
- plan, calendar and chair school curriculum meetings
- prepare meeting agendas before the meetings
- ensure minutes are kept for all meetings that include Action and Responsibility and follow up
all points
- participate in and/or lead curriculum-related parent conferences
Requirements:
• ELA/English Language and Literature or PYP/MYP English teaching experience
• Minimum two years of mid-management or academic leadership roles or experience running school PDs
• A good knowledge in curriculum understanding and pedagogical practices
• Good people skills to shadow or support professional growth of teachers
