The Opportunity

GWR is seeking a HR Manager who will have responsibility for both the HR function and office management of our Beijing Office. Working with the Global HR, this role will help design and implement all areas of Human Resources for the China office. This includes driving key HR including staffing, performance management, compensation planning, succession planning, training and development, rewards & recognition, organizational effectiveness and employee communication.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

As a HR Manager you will be the primary point of contact for the day-to-day questions/issues that arise from employees. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Manage end to end administration process for internal staff changes, employee benefits, payroll administration and exits.
  • Manage recruitment; post job openings, sort through resumes, conduct interviews, conduct reference checks, negotiate employment terms including salary/benefit decisions
  • Manage development plans, training courses, succession plans, promotions/raise decisions
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies regarding temporary/freelance staff, if necessary
  • Manage performance appraisals including performance management if necessary; facilitate termination process
  • Provide general advice to employees relating to HR procedures, benefits and HR related questions
  • Manage all benefit plans, including insurance and housing fund, as well as others like maternity leave.
  • Maintain accuracy of all HR files in line with China Employment Laws
  • Manage foreigner's working permits ensuring full compliance with immigration rules
  • The HR manager supervises the Office Executive’s role which aims to maintain a clean and orderly office, along with other general housekeeping duties required to sustain a safe working environment.

Candidate Capabilities

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive HR generalist experience
  • Excellent English language skills; speaking and writing
  • Bachelor's degree, or related concentrations; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong business acumen, facilitation, conflict resolution and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally, and influence without direct authority
  • Working knowledge of applicable Chinese Employment laws and regulations related to the Human Resource function
  • Open and easily approachable
  • Experience in Immigration requirements for foreigners’ visas, ability to keep up with changes in policies.
  • Proven track record in people development
  • Proficient with Office & Windows programs, and HRIS system
  • Experience working in a multi-national/ international company advantageous
