About the job

People Ops is always looking to make the experience of work better and more meaningful for Googlers. But innovating (and operating!) is increasingly complex when Googlers work in more than 50 countries, each with its own unique practices and regulations. The Diversity, Integrity & Governance team works to make sure we not only do what’s required by law, but that we continue to raise the bar and do what’s right for Googlers all over the globe. From supporting LGBT rights to extending parental leave benefits, we aspire to do the right thing in every part of the world: to be fair and inclusive, disciplined but not rigid, and consistent but not bureaucratic.

Our team works to make sure that we continue to raise the bar and do what’s right for Googlers all over the globe. As the HR Program Manager, you’ll partner closely with teams across Google to drive programs and initiatives that enhance Google’s HR compliance strategy. You’ll work to identify compliance related vulnerabilities, and you’ll play an essential role in developing and implementing strategies to improve our HR practices.

Great just isn't good enough for our People Operations team (you probably know us better as "Human Resources"). Made up of equal parts HR professionals, former consultants, and analysts, we're the advocates of Google's colorful culture. In People Ops, we "find them, grow them, and keep them". We bring the world's most innovative people to Google and provide the programs that help them thrive. Whether recruiting the next Googler, refining our core programs, developing talent, or simply looking for ways to inject some more fun into the lives of our Googlers, we bring a data-driven approach that is reinventing the human resources field.

Responsibilities

  • Review current HR practices and policies to identify potential compliance risks and provide recommendations to address any deficiencies.
  • Collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Employee Relations, Ethics and Compliance and Engineering in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage the implementation of policy and practice changes.
  • Support compliance programs pertaining to employees, contingent workers, record keeping and reporting requirements and all other areas related to employment law. Manage compliance vendors including operations, performance-to-agreement specifications and staffing.
  • Develop and implement trainings that highlight Google’s compliance obligations. Implement strategies and project plans to address identified compliance issues.
At Google, we don’t just accept difference—we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products and our community. Google is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. See also Google's EEO Policy and EEO is the Law.
