Main duties and responsibilities

Taking on a lab-based role, you’ll be tasked with delivering excellence in data generation within Hit Discovery for cellular and biochemical targets – enhancing the delivery of projects in compliance with SHE requirements. We’ll also expect you to capitalise on publication and collaboration opportunities and to mentor less experienced scientists. You’ll have every tool to acquire both practical and academic skills and become a true expert in your field.

Essential requirements

  • BSc/PhD in a relevant biology discipline
  • Flexibility to work at Alderley Park, Cheshire initially and then relocate to Cambridge
  • Demonstrable experience in cell and/or biochemical screening approaches and ability to troubleshoot screening problems
  • Ability to drive the practical application of new assay approaches to screening and drug discovery science in Hit Discovery
  • Familiarity with technology-rich lab environments.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience in several cellular and biochemical screening technologies
  • Assay Development, cascade design and drug discovery project team experience
  • Phenotypic screening, imaging/flow cytometry experience
  • Understanding of state-of-the-art assay technology platforms
  • Publication record and/or experience of presenting scientific data
  • Strong understanding of the analysis and interpretation of screening data to understand mechanism of target engagement
  • Experience of applying high volume/complexity data generation methods to drug discovery projects
  • Experience of small molecule screening and/or fragment-based screening.
