The CSI Engineering team is responsible for Microsoft's server hardware definition and design. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to design and develop server hardware that drives our cloud services at the lowest possible total cost of ownership (TCO).
We currently seek a Hardware Program Manager; in this role you will work with SKU enablement PMs, system engineers, qualification PMs and our test labs to help support the engineering projects and process of the next generation of server hardware and peripherals that will power the Microsoft Cloud.
Responsibilities
For this role, we are seeking an experienced industry professional who can help define project mgmt. best practices and associated tools, drive the execution of critical component testing & qualification initiatives and programs to deliver industry leading cloud infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services used by our customers around the world.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Partnering with internal business and engineering team members to understand existing processes and ongoing engineering projects and related activities
- Define and develop project mgmt. processes, tooling and reporting portals
- Manage and track hardware suppliers including qualification activities to ensure that hardware qualifications are completed on schedule and with detailed results
- Coordinate with hardware suppliers on hardware qualification schedules, test samples and expectations
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar field (or similar experience)
- 2 years or greater industry experience working in the technology field or on development of electromechanical devices, from definition to delivery
- Willingness to work with external partners and internal customers to manage component qualifications
- Growth mindset with respect to learning about key elements of server and data center architecture
- Effective communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms
