Job Description
Eaton’s CPDI Division is currently seeking a Harness and Wire Assembler on 1st shift to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this function you will: Ensure electrical/mechanical performance of completed assemblies to ensure compliance with Raleigh Plant Quality standards. Make necessary adjustments when required in order to meet quality goals and standards. Perform assembly, complex and repetitive wiring, and/or UPS operation to complete final assembly of product. Evaluate assembly problems then recommend and implement corrective actions. Responsible for visual inspections of material and prior assemblies before and after assembly. Use various fixtures, gauges, assemble and customizes engineering tools to assemble, adjust and/or repair product(s). Work and Assemble products and Harnesses to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), bill of materials, wire charts, schematics, manufacturing information, and instructions from Management or Engineers.. Responsible for visual inspections of assemblies. Report irregularities or equipment malfunctions. Adhere to work instructions and all environmental, health, safety rules and regulations. Provide process and safety improvement ideas. Ensure machines and tools are properly calibrated and perform work area housekeeping duties as necessary using the principles of 5S+. Perform bench-type processes to assemble wire harnesses using the following equipment and processes: Hand tools – manual wire cutters, manual crimpers & luggers Pneumatic crimping tools Wire soldering Wire identification and labelling Perform “Pull Test” using calibrated equipment When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. #LI-LD1 Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school is required Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of Raleigh, North Carolina will be considered. Active duty military service member candidates transitioning to civilian employment are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Minimum 2 years of experience in assembly in a manufacturing environment is required Position Criteria: Working knowledge and understanding of basic electricity Working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility. Ability to demonstrate high level of attention to detail Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. Must be able to frequently stand or bend. Must be able to distinguish colored wiring. Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, or wire diagrams Experience in hand assembly. Excellent communications skills to work cross-functionally across multiple departments. Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime. Good problem solving and troubleshooting ability. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Ability to be flexible and travel an approximate distance of 20 miles from work location to neighboring Raleigh Area Plants (as needed) Preferred Qualifications: Proficient in basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite. Trained and qualified to operate vacuum hoists. Associates degree in electronics, manufacturing or a related field from an accredited educational institution or equivalent prior work experience(s). Experience using handheld scanner for inventory management. Experience with properly packaging sensitive electronic equipment for storage and shipment. Working knowledge of electronic circuitry, batteries, and components. High level of mechanical and electrical aptitude. Soldering certification or at least 6 months of soldering experience. Minimum 2 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly.
