YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Data Systems, are to: 

• Coordinate and prioritize activities of RS and interaction with other R&D functions towards the strategic goal of R&D to have 100% pipeline data connected, stored, secured and accessible in unified platforms;
• Drive for a FAIR data landscape as input for cross-phase and cross-disciplinary modelling, trial planning, data-based decision making, registration as well as defense and value for the farmer & society;
• Set strategy, manage and guide data governance for RS in close alignment with global Data Governance functions and other relevant Data Science functions;
• Map demand of future application needs, and coordinate implementation plans and investment needs with RS functions, R&D and IT;
• Assure appropriate management of intellectual property and data safety and consistency;
• Manage the defined budget, investments and resources to fully realize the objectives of own group;
• Support Head of Regulatory Data Science & Digital Transformation and other RS functions in driving digital change; 
• Lead, develop and manage a team of data scientists and IT experts;
• Ensure high safety standards and compliant action within the area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:

• Master or PhD in information technology, data science or related fields;
• Significant Experience in Life Science R&D and experience in data platforms, data engineering, data stewardship and IT architecture;
• Integrative and confident manager that develops his team and empowers as well as challenges his / her co-workers to the best of their abilities;
• Ability to contribute and leverage specialized expertise in data management towards pipeline value for each RS function and R&D as a whole;
• Understanding of how R&D as a whole delivers and ability to take a holistic perspective in steering the RS data science team;
• Broad knowledge of tool landscape and data governance principles;
• Ability to communicate with scientists and managers without background in data sciences;
• Highly developed ability to analyze and structure complex research activities;
• Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and teamwork skills within a diverse organization.
