Job Description
Position Head of English
Start date August, 2025
Working hours 8 am—4:30 pm
Weekly schedule Monday to Friday
Student’s age 13-18 years old
Class size 10-25 students/class
Weekly workload Around 20-22 classes/week
Contract length 2 years
Probation time 2 months

Job Purpose
1.To lead the English department, and chair and conduct staff meetings as required for the school or department as a whole.
2.To continuously reflect on and improve the ESL Policy.
3.To deliver CPD training on the ESL Policy, language acquisition, and train and monitor teachers to fulfill our targets in the classroom.
4.To work alongside subject teachers and tutors to help to create an environment in which student learning flourishes.
5.To create regular cyclical opportunities for teachers to recommend students for intervention.
6.To create detailed English language support plans for English Support (ESU) students and teachers.
7.To train teachers to be able to deliver the ESU programme, and proficiency test training.
8.To create a systematic vocabulary acquisition program by the English Department.
9.To manage and supervise the reading programme for all the students and tutors.
10.To have an overview of students’ language developments and maintain student profiles on each of them to share with teachers when necessary.
11.To support school Open Day and recruitment.
12.To proofread school documents.

Desired Candidates
Nationality English Native Speakers, from UK is desirable
Education Bachelor or above
Major English
Teaching experience Minimum 3-5 years of English teaching experience in an international/bilingual school setting
Certification PGCE or PGCEI is highly desirable

Salary range 28-35K/month (depends on experience)
AllowanceHousing: 4500-5500RMB/month (depends on family situation)
Flight: 10K/Academic year
