Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Head of English (A-level) to lead our thriving English Department in one of Hangzhou’s leading British-style bilingual K-12 schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving academic excellence in A-level English Language and Literature, mentoring a dedicated team of teachers, and fostering a deep appreciation for English studies across the secondary school.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and management of the English Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in line with British curriculum standards.
Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of the A-level English curriculum, ensuring it is rigorous, engaging, and tailored to the needs of bilingual learners.
Mentor, support, and conduct professional development for English teachers to promote best practices in pedagogy and assessment.
Monitor student progress and outcomes, using data to inform interventions and drive continuous improvement.
Foster a culture of excellence in English, including promoting reading, writing, critical thinking, and literary analysis across the school.
Collaborate with senior leadership to contribute to whole-school initiatives and the wider academic community.
Ensure effective communication with parents, students, and staff regarding curriculum, progress, and department developments.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field; a master’s degree or teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Substantial experience teaching A-level English Language and/or Literature, with a proven track record of outstanding student results.
Previous leadership experience within an English department or as a curriculum coordinator, preferably in an international or bilingual school setting.
Deep understanding of the British education system, A-level specifications, and assessment requirements.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
Cross-cultural sensitivity and experience working in a diverse, multilingual environment.
Commitment to innovation in teaching and learning, including the integration of technology where appropriate.
