The opportunity:
The purpose of this role is to lead the HR Partnerships team in partnering with the business to deliver strategic and operational HR support, and talent acquisition activity, with a view to building people capability that leads to competitive advantage. You will drive the development and implementation of business unit people strategies aligned to AIA’s strategic goals and priorities and will also ensure that companywide HR processes, policies, and projects are managed well and delivered in line with company requirements.

You will drive the development and implementation of business unit people strategies aligned to AIA’s strategic goals and priorities and will also ensure that companywide HR processes, policies, and projects are managed well and delivered in line with company requirements.
About the role:
Support the Chief Officer, People & Culture (and peers) in the development, execution and successful delivery of the People strategy.
Lead the HR Business Partners in developing business unit people strategies aligned to the company strategy.
Lead the Talent Acquisition team in developing a Talent Acquisition strategy for AIA New Zealand.
Lead the People Advisory team in ensuring timely and accurate processing of queries and provision of payroll.
Ensure the effective translation of people and culture strategies into operational plans and initiatives and deliver to the business.
Stay abreast of HR best practice and be proactive in defining improved policy, processes, and practices within the business in order to support AIA’s Strategy.
Lead, coach and develop capability and succession plans within the HRP area. Build a passionate, highly engaged and focused team of professionals – which leads by example, setting the standard for the business.
Continuously review and improve HR processes, including documentation of standard operating procedures, looking for opportunities for improvement and value add.
Work with Chief Officer, People & Culture and peers to provide expertise and consultancy support for the following initiatives and ensure these are embedded throughout the business:
EVP Development and Embedding
Employee engagement
Talent Management
Succession Planning
Leadership & employee Development
Vision & Values
Work with the P&C appointed risk manager to ensure accountabilities and processes are in place so that all organisational risk requirements for the People & Culture division have adequate controls, are recorded and actions are delivered well.
Maintain strong internal networks and organisational intelligence through key business relationships with the ELT, SLT community and business and support units, identifying opportunities to support the achievement of their strategic priorities and operational initiatives.
Provide representation for HRP on multidisciplinary project teams or working parties
Manage key relationships on behalf of People & Culture including EAP, Union, Health & Safety initiatives.

About you:
Strong business orientation and commercial acumen
In-depth experience working within NZ Legislative framework
Comprehensive understanding of Human Resources best practice.
High level analytical skills, with strong decision-making ability
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in driving a positive organisational culture including understanding Kenexa or an alternative engagement methodology – ability to drive buy in rather than a tick box approach.
Change management techniques and experience
Skills in supporting the development of an integrated People Strategy and associated project delivery.
Senior level HR leadership experience, ideally with recent exposure to the financial services industry.
Proven ability to meet critical timeframes and deadlines
Experience in writing board and executive papers to communicate and get buy in to initiatives
Qualifications
Relevant HR qualification desirable
