Within the IT Strategy #twiceAsFast (TAF) the IT Technology and Cross Functions will change and transform the global IT Infrastructure at Daimler with the #TAF-Partner project. The department IT Infrastructure and Operations at DTA is the responsible Business Accelerator (BA) for enabling, accelerating and bring innovation to our IT and business by using one-platform.
Main tasks and targets of this position
The head of the ITT/TA department is responsible for IT Infrastructure and Operations for DTA, which includes MFTBC, comprising around 22 internal employees, managing a budget of approx. 36 million EURO, and DICV comprising around 6 internal employees, managing a budget of approx. 3 million EURO. The main objectives of this position are:
- Actively contribute to shaping the ITT functional strategy in close alignment with the business and IT business partner strategies for Daimler Trucks
- Setup and develop the BA strategy with high cross-departmental collaboration within Daimler Trucks entities around the globe.
- Develop BA Organization, processes & employess to consult and code on top of common infrastructure platform
- Ensure the standardization of infrastructure service in close alignment with the IT business partner areas
- Act as an advocat for the ITC organisation and business demands regarding a common infrastructure platform
- Act as interface to the ITC Business Partners for complex projects
- Manage and steer the portfolio of highly standardized IT infrastructure platforms and services in close alignment with the ITC Infrastructure area Platform Foundation and Delivery and IT business partners as well as the 5 IT Joint Priorities and IT Strategy
- Manage and ensure stable tranition to the TAF-Partner together with the overall ITT units and the TAF-Partner Program.
- Ensure and enable information flow within BA: you are an excellent communicator at all levels, you are highly skilled at bringing together and motivating a team comprising employees with varying skill sets and from different backgrounds
- Working in close cooperation with the IT Commercial Vehicles (ITC) application units
- Planning, monitoring and organizing the internal and external service providers
- Representing IT Technology and Cross Functions (ITT) and in the future ITC Infrastructure at DTA to work in a matrix organization at different levels
- Be an active Member of the ITT/T and in the future ITC Infrastructure team, help to develop the strategy and implement project Focus
Key tasks and responsibilities
1. Leadership
- Providing leadership, direction and supervision for managers and staff. Managing, motivating, and developing a high-performance team using target agreements, conducting regular appraisals of managers and staff against clearly defined objectives.
- Participating in all programs and enforcing all policies relating to performance evaluations and career development planning
- Developing flexible and multi-skilled staffs, ensuring that the necessary trainings which cover the needs and tasks of individual employees are provided. Supporting, developing and overseeing improvement processes
- Attracting, recruiting and retaining required members of the team, overseeing development of succession plans at all levels of organizational responsibilities
- Informing the assigned employees about the relevant provisions and instructing them to comply with these. Ensuring that these provisions are properly implemented and monitored
2. Strategy Development
- Facilitating the definition and implementation of global ITT in the future ITC Infrastructure strategy into DTA (FUSO & DICV) initiatives, as well as incorporating local requirements into the IT, ITC and ITT strategy, ensuring the alignment between infrastructure roadmaps and business strategy
- Formulating and deploying long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling highly effective operational process, standards and templates to increase the agility and responsiveness to the fast changing business requirements
- Understanding and evaluating new technologies, emerging trends and best practice, recommending improvements to existing core infrastructure
- Carrying out assessment on current IT infrastructure and processes, designing future infrastructure strategy and roadmap, preparing the organization to build needed capabilities to ensure future readiness for expected growth at DTA
3. Responsibility for planning, building and running tasks
- Approaching IT Plan/Build/Run framework and applying best practices to ensure successful results
- Planning, implementing and managing IT infrastructure projects at DTA, especially those strategic and global IT projects. Ensuring that the projects are formalized, remain on schedule, completed within budget and properly documented.
- Ensuring steady and efficient IT operations, establishing key performance indicators and SLAs or OLAs for driving the performance of IT service delivery.
- Advising the ITC units on all questions relating to IT operations and infrastructure.
- Ensuring that effective IT governance, security and risk management processes are implemented and adhered to
4. Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Assembling a portfolio of suppliers for relevant IT infrastructure and services
- Executing sourcing process, strategically managing suppliers, realizing savings with strategic sourcing and supplier management, ensuring service providers are carrying out all aspects of contractual obligation for proactive and preventative maintenance of IT facilities or service delivery
5. Financial Management
- Managing financial aspects for ITT/TA, planning, directing, monitoring, organizing and accountability for the efficient use of financial resources within the scope of the cost center management guidelines
- Holding responsibility for IT staffing and budgeting projections on a company-wide basis
6. Organizational Development
- Establishing organization able to support a dynamic and fast changing business environment
- Implementing agile concepts at DTA, introducing organization, processes and architectures that supports agility
- Reducing administrative overheads and supporting LEAN processes
- Establishing and maintaining departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures to be compliant with ITT global strategy
