Job Purpose


The Head of Internal Controls will be responsible for setting up an effective internal controls environment by establishing controls and monitoring compliance, as part of the Group wide finance transformation project. You will report to the Group Financial Controller and work with the Control Specialists to strict execution of internal controls in all business processes.
In this role you will be responsible for monitoring the global internal controls environment, serving as the main point of contact for controls. You will also need to identify improvement opportunities and ensure continuous improvement within the function.


 

Key Responsabilities


Set strategic direction for internal controls framework
* Improve existing governance structure by providing risk assurance through internal audit programmes
* Design and implement the operational risk framework, internal controls policies and procedures and the internal audit plan to meet the company’s needs while ensuring operational, legal and regulatory compliance
Oversee internal controls environment and monitor compliance
* Support team of Control Specialists when conducting periodic risk & control assessments to ensure business processes are compliant and consistent, updating the controls framework and remediating control deficiencies
Drive continuous improvement of internal controls processes
* Drive and prioritise initiatives to improve internal controls within the business
* Understand emerging technologies that may optimise internal controls processes and drive the business case for those that deliver value
Cross-functional collaboration
* Own managerial level governance and work with the Controls Specialists to run the operational level governance for internal controls
* Ensure alignment and collaboration between the Control Specialists and the business to facilitate optimal end-to-end business performance, incorporating business feedback in periodic assessments
Team management

 

Skills & Experience


* 5+ years’ experience leading and managing teams, implementing and improving controls frameworks, monitoring compliance and managing internal audits
* Preferred background in Accounting, Finance, or other related disciplines
* Professional certification such as CPA/CIA/CFE or qualified by experience
* Strong English Language skills
* Experience using accounting, auditing and internal control management software
* Expert knowledge and awareness of risk management methodologies, compliance tracking mechanisms, controls implementation procedures, industry best practices, and regulatory country nuances
* Deep experience of internal controls efficiencies and improvement opportunities
* Strong stakeholder management skills, able to lead by example and hold teams accountable for performance
