As a Head of Legal will be responsible for providing legal support, in Motion Business Area in Beijing, Shanghai, China.
Reporting to the Group Function Head - Legal & Integrity, you will be acting as a strategic busines partner and enabler.
Your responsibilities
- Managing the Motion China Legal and Integrity team, including resource management, people development and external counsel and related cost management
- Co-ordinating with the Regional General Counsels of all Business Areas for ensuring adequate L&I resources allocation at the any given time among Business Areas where the resources are shared
- Supporting the Motion leadership teams in China working in close co-operation with the Business Area General Counsel, Division Lead Counsels, Regional Counsels and the global Labor & Industries (L&I) leadership team
- Ensuring that sufficient support for the structuring, negotiating, reviewing and drafting of international and domestic transactions, including sales, sourcing, joint venture, consortium and other agreements.
- Providing support with risk reviews as required by the Global General Counsel Motion or Division Lead Counsels
- Ensuring legal support and advice with regards to contract execution and interpretation, including claims and drafting settlement agreements
- Participation in the formulation, interpretation and implementation of ABB Policies to ensure consistency and compliance with contractual obligations, corporate standards and applicable laws
Your background
- 15 years of Legal experience or equivalent in an internationally recognized law firm or multinational company.
- Strong command of international commercial and corporation law, including working knowledge of key international conventions as well as public procurement and anti-trust law.
- A Legal degree from accredited law school with a demonstrable superior academic record
- Demonstrable fluency and ability to draft and negotiate legal and commercial documents in English and Mandarin.
