The Challenge
- The Senior Manager Marketing & Sales Excellence China will ensure that DSM remains ahead of the curve with respect to rapid market advancement in China. Keeping abreast of this leading growth market will be crucial for the commercial success of DSM’s product portfolio, ensuring a dual branding strategy is created and nurtured (China and Global Brands) to maximize market opportunity. In addition, you will ensure MARKETING & SALES capabilities are enhanced and that China marketing best practices are shared with global MARKETING & SALES teams, supporting Business Groups/Units inside and outside of the region.
The Position
- Responsible to support DSMs Business Groups/Units in China to localize their strategy/vision to outcomes
- Responsible for the dual branding strategy (China & Global brands) development within the respective Business Groups/Units in the region, maximizing market opportunity for the DSM Business Groups by ensuring regional flavor is embedded into the strategy and marketing execution
- Orchestrate on the ground change management (use cases & foundation projects) initiated by DM&S/MARKETING & SALES in the business
- Generate and engage with MARKETING & SALES ambassadors within various DSM businesses represented in the China Region, facilitating the acceleration of MARKETING & SALES expertise level in the region
- Champions best practices, transfers expertise, methodologies, tools and processes from the China Region towards Global colleagues located across all other regions, advancing MARKETING & SALES capability, knowledge and insights across the function
- Responsible for ensuring any Global MARKETING & SALES initiatives are implemented in an appropriate way for the China region, challenging and influencing global stakeholders where necessary to ensure best fit execution for the region
- Develop MARKETING & SALES specialists in Region China for your area of expertise, in a way that these ambassadors can further develop MARKETING & SALES Excellence in the region (train-the-trainer concept)
- This position will report into the Chief Marketing Officer
The Ideal
- Academic degree in Marketing, Business Administration, International Business or equivalent experience
- Min 10 years of relevant experience in Marketing and/or Sales in China Region, preferably in a complex international setting in related industries to DSM’s portfolio
- Proven expertise in program management
- Extensive knowledge of the China market (industry dynamics)
- High commercial acumen and finance savviness to understand the DSM specific business domains
- Combines general knowledge on Marketing and/or sales with expert knowledge in some of the following areas; Strategic Marketing Plans, Product Launch, Branding, PTO Portfolio Management, Sales, Pricing, Digital Marketing, Customer Services, OTC)
- Excellent written and spoken Mandarin and English is essential
- Ability to think strategically and analytically
- Leadership and ability to collaborate with a large range of people and competencies (sales, shared services, customer service, supply chain etc.) across the region
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decisive action
- Ability to work in a face-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high quality business results within tight deadlines
- Strong business orientation and ability to make things happen-needs to drive actions and decisions, not just provide a point of view
- Willingness to travel internationally
