For our location in Wiesbaden we are searching for Head Virology / Neuroscience / Specialty Care (all genders) Key responsibilities Lead the brand-aligned Medical team over all products/therapeutic areas in the Medical Areas Virology / Neuroscience / Eye- and Specialty Care and ensure its compliance to corporate requirements and processes on medical activities Encourage Virology / Neuroscience / Eyecare and Specialty Care leadership team to identify innovative medical strategic approaches that support the brand Drive Medical Strategy for the Brands within the Brand Team and integrate it into the Brand Plan Assure alignment of strategies across several Brand Teams Explore with other affiliates opportunities for international collaborative studies Contribute to/participate in international project teams Develop consolidated budgets for Medical activities across Brand Teams Identify the need for local medical projects and manage the project portfolio across indications/products Specifically, oversee and supervise the initiation, conduct and analysis of the results of clinical/scientific programs and clinical education activities; drive the integration of these results in the brand strategy Understand AbbVie in-licensing opportunities for early phase/discovery products with academic centers Secondary responsibilities Guide and supervise Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Regional Medical Specialists (RMS) activities across indications/products/therapeutic areas together with the MSL/RMS-Teamlead Responsibility as a member of the medical department for all aspects of pharmacovigilance fulfilling internal report obligations on medical products and devices of AbbVie products and support of the national QPPV and the deputy for pharmacovigilance and medical devices Qualifications Skills Ability to build and develop a team of specialists skills and talents Ability to think and plan strategically and to adopt an open-minded approach to common challenges Ability to understand and to empathize with other stakeholders both within the company and external Ability to manage and work closely within a team in a matrix organization, and in particular with a commercial team and with in-field personnel from other functions Ability to deal with conflicting interests within a multi-functional team and the leadership skills to bring these interests together towards a common goal Ability to communicate formally and informally with top KOLs and other healthcare organizations Ability to deliver high quality presentations both independently and as part of a team when incorporating technical data for external communication Ability to lead a field-based team effectively and efficiently Education / Knowledge University degree in Medicine, Pharmacology or Natural Sciences MD or PhD preferred Understanding of the needs and agendas of all leading medical specialists in the relevant therapy area Knowledge of English and of the local language Knows the local regulatory requirement and GCP, ensures that compliance requirements are met with all clinical trials Experienced in conducting and analysis of clinical Ph. lllb/IV studies Good familiarity with principles of financial management Good understanding of statistical research methods Experience Minimum of 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry Academic and/ or professional scientific background Experience of working in a complex matrix organization Minimum two years’ experience of managing a team Experience of working in an in-field, stakeholder-/ customer-facing role Travel Yes, 25 % of the Time Job Type Experienced Schedule Full-time Job Level Code M Equal Employment Opportunity At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
