Reporting to the Head of the Arts Faculty, the key responsibilities of the Head of Music include:

• leading, managing and improving the Music curriculum that covers a wide range of musical styles, and delivered through the IBMYP framework and the HKDSE and IBDP courses

• leading, managing and improving the integration of technology within the Music curriculum  

• leading and managing the teaching and learning in the Music Department by developing strategies to promote outstanding student achievement in Music

• the administration of the Music Department including budget, trips and visits

• overseeing and able to lead music ensembles

This is a position for which the following are essential:

• a bachelor degree in Music and a recognised teaching qualification i.e. PGDE or equivalent
• specialist teaching experience in Music from Grade 7 to 12, including examination classes

This is a position for which the following are preferred:

• capacity to teach Music to IB Diploma and HK Diploma
• experience with the IB Middle Years Programme
• head of Music or similar school leadership experience
• experience of form/house tutoring
• capacity to teach another subject
• capacity to offer extra-curricular activity, particularly related to music
