Job Description

 YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of NA Product Development - Hybrids, are to

 

  • Develop and implement people, technology and strategies to accelerate and enhance products for corn and canola in United States;
  • Ensure goals and resource needs are met and aligned with needs of global business;
  • Be responsible to deliver ~~410 products for corn and canola to commercial pipelines annually, resulting in GP of ~10-15B annually;
  • Recruit, develop and retain breeding team leads and support staff;
  • Perform people management for development scientists and breeding talent across the region for relevant crops;
  • Be a regional representative on United States Business Strategy (CSPM) teams for Breeding/Research and Development;
  • Lead and contribute to Global Breeding strategies and LRP;
  • Ensure that these goals and deliverables are aligned with high level functional goals and commercial goals;
  • Lead technology development and process standardization, adoption of best practices and implementation of process improvement measures across organization;
  • Work informally to lead coordination and standardization and adoption of breeding technologies across four breeding hubs as lead of Product Development community across regions;
  • Lead multi-functional breeding teams with a key focus on driving genetic gain and product performance through digital transformation and new technology deployment;
  • Ensure leadership and organizational development, including growth opportunities for key leaders and strong succession;
  • Be responsible for capital and budgetary oversight of 30M annually and for care and maintenance of company assets;
  • Lead and participate in Global Breeding initiatives (Leads Customer Centric Advancement global initiative) to deliver precision breeding objectives.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. with at least 15 years of row crop breeding, animal genetics, genomics or similar technology leadership experience;
  • At least five years managing commercial portfolio, including interaction with product management and commercial teams to support life-cycle processes;
  • At least 10 or more years of relevant experience including technology or business strategy development, implementation and driving innovation;
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in developing talent and leading direct and cross-functional teams;
  • Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genomics or quantitative genetics with a proven track record of driving innovation;
  • Influence and motivate through leadership (lead by example; live LIFE values), combining professional backgrounds, different countries, nationalities, cultures and languages.
