YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Nursery Solutions, are to:

• Develop and implement technical strategy to ensure delivery and optimization of seed production over a five to 10 year business long range to include agronomic, automation, and reproductive biology considerations;
• Identify step change technologies for the breeding pipeline, and partner with analytics, IT, and breeding regions to deploy;
• Develop and implement people and product strategies to ensure goals and resource needs are met and aligned with Breeding and the business;
• Recruit, develop, and retain breeding team leads and support staff globally, including assessment responsibility for all direct reports;
• Ensure leadership and organizational development, including growth opportunities for key leaders, with a strong succession plan;
• Drive the implementation and optimization of the protected culture systems in Arizona, Puerto Rico, Petrolina, and future locations;
• Assess new protected culture and automation opportunities and make investment recommendations by providing detailed, supporting experimental and financial data;
• Provide capital spend oversight for major projects;
• Optimize existing and new work flows in seed production, seed processing, and deployment of molecular breeding tools through process engineering and use of analytics;
• Test new breeding methods at scale in preparation for deployment to global production;
• Partner with production sesearch in product supply to share insights and best practices in seed production, and exploit shared interest and investment in seed production technology;
• Lead and participate in global breeding initiatives to deliver precision breeding objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. with 5+ years of expereince or more years of experience in a crop technology leadership role OR Master's Degree with 15+ years of experience in a crop technology leadership role;
• Technical expertise in agronomy, automation, and reproductive biology;
• Demonstrated ability to re-imagine workflows and apply innovative technology to solve business challenges;
• Three or more years of experience in developing talent, and leading direct and cross-functional teams across geographies and culture;
• Proven track record of successfully leading, developing, and mentoring highly educated, skilled team members in a global environment;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills;
• Ability to travel 15% of the time.
