Job Description
We have an exciting new opportunity to join our team as a Head of Production in Lincoln! Responsible for the successful operational performance and efficiency of the facility ensuring that resourcing requirements are met, robust operating procedures are in place, employees are engaged, and the health and safety environment is continually maintained and improved. The Head of Production is responsible for developing and driving operational improvement projects that will improve productivity and implement any changes/modifications as agreed with the customer/internal stakeholders. Responsible for day-to-day delivery of bogie overhaul service level agreements. What are my responsibilities? As part of the BSC management team, responsible for the production delivery to Ensure availability is maintained to contractual requirements. Deliver reliability improvements to agreed annual targets To investigate, resolve and respond to customer complaints within the BSC. Develop strong customer relationships at senior management level, understanding customer needs and anticipating emerging customer Identify where possible, business development opportunities from the customer. Accountable to the BSC Manager for budgetary control of production team labour and other allocated responsibilities. Ensure daily contractual requirements are met. Supports the budget setting process, including short to medium-range objectives and criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success. Identifying and maximising additional Implement safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility. Understand, implement and comply with the Siemens Rolling Stock HSEW Communicate health and safety responsibilities to your team (or virtual team) and ensure employees raise issues and participate in implementation of agreed changes. Fully participate and engage in R/S Establish, develop and monitor the delivery of the short-, medium- and long-term production plan. Interaction with support functions and key suppliers to ensure on time delivery of material and services. Oversee the short-term production plans to ensure that changes, driven by customer or technical requirements, can be incorporated. Place employee safety and wellbeing at the forefront of your team management activities and ensure your awareness and competence in employee welfare tools (such as mental health first aiders, EAP, occupational health What do I need to qualify for the role? Essential: Minimum HND or above qualification in a maintenance management or advising environment or equivalent experience. Experience of managing and engaging technical teams to deliver results within a time critical operation. Experience of managing change and employee relations. Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and experience of implementing change projects in an advising environment. Good understanding of health and safety legislation can demonstrate implementation of health and safety procedures in safety critical environments. Strong analytical skills and numerate, comfortable with the review and development of management information. IT literate – can develop and interpret spreadsheets. Preferred: Experience within a Rail environment with technical advising knowledge relating to Rolling Stock. Degree level education in an advising environment. Professional membership of a Leadership or Advising Institute or Body (ILM, IMechE, IET) Basic understanding or entry-level qualification in project management. What else do you need to know?
