Head of Regulatory Affairs

You will be responsible for the Group’s regulatory affairs strategy for UK and Ireland on matters ranging from cosmetics, beauty and medical devices to chemicals regulations. This role reports into the Director of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs. The team works across all L'Oréal UK & Ireland brands and divisions.

You will: 

PURPOSE: 

To protect L'Oréal UK and Irelands' license to operate and innovate beauty and personal care products through excellent regulatory support and advise on regulatory matters relating to all areas the L'Oréal UK and Ireland business is concerned with.  

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE
  • Ensure regulatory Intelligence, develop and implement the overall regulatory strategy to ensure L’Oréal’s license to operate in UK and Ireland.
  • Apply and contribute to the Group's regulatory strategy and ensure accountability of implementing regulations, particularly cosmetic and chemical regulations to maintain compliance. 
  • To monitor and manage our regulatory obligations with respect to, but not limited to Cosmetics Regulation, chemicals regulation and CLP, as applicable in UK and EU.
  • Develop and implement processes to elevate our data and digital vision 
  • Lead and develop a team of 2 
  • Contribute to the Group’s advocacy strategy and provide technical recommendations across areas of responsibility
  • Represent L’Oréal with authorities, regulators and professional associations, including CTPA
  • Regular interaction and collaboration with other multi-divisional teams such as Operations and Legal as well as business functions such as sales and marketing.
  • Maintain regular cross functional collaboration with the international regulatory teams

You have: 

  • Minimum honours degree in one of the life sciences particularly, chemistry, biochemistry or biology. 
  • At least 5 years in-depth regulatory experience in the FMCG industry. 
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including cosmetics regulation and chemicals regulation.
  • Excellent personal leadership and people management skills including coaching and development of team members. 
  • A high level of curiosity and appetite to develop and share knowledge
  • Excellent command of the English language and its subtleties, with the ability to articulate and express ideas and concepts fluently and persuasively both orally and in writing, particularly in simplifying complex regulatory or scientific issues.
  • High degree of organisational and analytical skills, offering well thought through creative solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capable of building good effective relationships with internal and external contacts as well as senior stakeholders. 
  • Strong co-operative team spirit.
  • The ability to pay attention to detail as well as looking at the wider picture.
