Position Summary:

 

Bentley is actively transitioning from an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) based Managed Service to a Site Reliability Engineering practice where we consider infrastructure and operations as a software engineering problem. Today our Managed Service supports multiple Bentley products for hundreds of global accounts and thousands of individual users. To drive this effort, we are looking for a strong leader who can manage a heterogenous team of project managers, system administrators and software engineers to support our existing deployments while upskilling and preparing the team and systems for our future container-based architecture which is already well underway and getting ready for General Availability.

 

Your Day-to-Day:

 

• Managing the team in charge of the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) based Managed Service for our customers, guiding the team to improve monitoring and operations to provide a reliable quality of service (SLA) and timely deliveries
• Upskilling and hiring team members with SRE skills to develop the platform tasked to receive the traditional environments
• Continued support of the Managed Service ISO27001 program and operation of its controls and audit requirements
• Organize the necessary processes and certifications for both platforms (SOC2 and ISO27001)
• Implementing self-healing processes and methodologies to ensure incidents happen only once through Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys) and problem management.
• Plan and orchestrate a seamless migration of the environments to the new platform
• Collaborate with the product development teams influencing their architecture for smoother, more reliable and more cost effective operations
• Collaborate with other development teams following the DevOps practice in the company ensuring seamless integration between products and services

 

What You Bring to The Team:

 

• Impeccable attitude where you create bridges instead of silos, honor your commitments, train the teams to fail early, ask for help and learn from experience, foster a culture of transparency and knowledge exchange.
• Ability to prioritize the CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability) of the systems over sales or revenue growth.
• Team management in the context of operations including organizing on-call rotations, managing escalations and stressful situations.
• Communication with both internal and external stakeholders to drive timely resolution of issues.
• Strong sense of ownership and responsibility as you are in charge of hundreds of business critical environments for our accounts.
• Software engineering leadership to drive the transformation to an SRE practice.

 

What Technical Skills You Bring to The Team:

 

• 3 years +  for Kubernetes, Elastic Search, Grafana, Fluentd, Kibana
• 3 years + for Cloud platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services and their respective services for:
  • Infrastructure as a Service (Virtual Machines, storage, load balancers)
  • Database as a Service (Postgres, SQL server, Cassandra, etc...)
  • Higher level services such as managed Kubernetes, functions, event bus
• Past implementations of security controls certifications such as ISO27001 or SOC2

 

Favorable Skills, but not required:

 

• Programming experience with either Python, TypeScript, Go
• SRE manager past position would be a strong plus
• FedRAMP knowledge
