Background:

Collaborating closely with the OBU Global Franchise Head - ADC and Breast Cancer, you will drive the strategy and planning for the franchise with close collaboration with alliance partner for HER2 ADC, as well as Astra Zeneca cross functional colleagues including global commercial heads within the franchise, OBU functions, OBU markets, and colleagues in oncology research and development,  to develop a long-range franchise vision and plan.  Your leadership, analysis and strategic advice will pull together the best minds at AstraZeneca to:

  • define the long-range business strategy and vision with input from critical functions (IR, R&D, Medical, Countries, OBU)

  • identify and drive the enterprise and alliance engagement to address strategic questions relating to achieving the vision

  • drive the creation and implementation of a cross-functional plan (brand strategy, LRP) to deliver the vision

As a leader in AstraZeneca’s HER2 ADC and Breast Cancer franchise you will represent AstraZeneca to business partners, thought leaders, other key stakeholders.

This role reports to Global Franchise Head – ADC/ Trastuzumab Deruxtecan & Breast Cancer, Oncology Business Unit . The role is a member of the HER2 ADC OBU and breast cancer leadership team

Accountabilities:

Develop and Drive Cross indication HER2 ADC Franchise Strategy

  • Accountable for cross indication and above indication franchise strategy including positioning, mechanism of action narrative, competitive differentiation

  • Ensure compelling external and internal narrative including preparation and planning for dataflow, readiness and communication at key congresses

  • Coordinate  annual franchise brand strategy development (BSP) with engagement of countries and alliance

 Lead Franchise strategic planning for HER2 ADC and Breast cancer Franchise

  • Accountable to OBU global Franchise head for Long Term Planning (LTP), with close collaboration with finance and commercial heads, including  market consultations,  TA Strategy development,

  • Be key thought partner for Franchise Head for franchise priorities; drive OBU franchise leadership council and other key forums

  • Work with GA&I and OBU Finance to monitor KPIs and support quarterly business review preparation

Lead launch sequencing and market readiness for significant portfolio of upcoming launches

  • Ensure optimal global launch sequencing based on commercial potential and supply readiness

  • Shape agile go to market approaches and launch readiness across multiple tumor types

  • Works with HER2 ADC commercial Heads to ensure strong alignment between Global / Region / Markets and execution of commercial strategy

Development of HER2 ADC Commercial Capabilities

  • Stays up to date and relevant through, understanding of evolving scientific data, competitive trends, market evolution (e.g. payer trends, digital therapeutics, novel diagnostics) for application to HER2 ADC and Breast cancer franchise

  • Champions AGILE Ways of Working and simplification across alliance business forums

Manages, develops and inspires their team

  • shapes OBU HER2 ADC and Breast Cancer franchise culture build, inc but not limited to Skills Training and Development programmes

  • progresses HER2 ADC Franchise Diversity and Inclusion agenda and  PULSE survey analysis and associated action plans

Essential requirements

Education  and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in scientifically relevant field

  • Financial experience managing a P&L, MBA or other related discipline demonstrating an understanding of revenue, targets and the process behind developing and executing these

  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry including experience in oncology strategic and commercial leadership role 

  • Executive presence, ability in influence across senior executive teams

  • Proactive , self starter, entrepreneurial

  • Strong communication skills, including senior leadership engagement experience

  • Ability to understand the impact change on people and processes within a large organization

  • Customer and patient centric mindset

  • Strong analytical ability

  • Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail

Preferred:

  • Experience in working in an external alliance

  • MBA in marketing or pharmaceutical marketing

  • Change management experience

  • Ability and experience integrating business processes,  delivering improvement in efficiency and simplification to processes
