The Opportunity:

Come and join AIA in a key leadership position to lead AIA NZ’s sustainability and sponsorship programmes by developing and managing the new and existing initiatives for social and environmental impact, in accordance with the AIA Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy. This role is a 10-month fixed term contract.

You will be someone with broad commercial and sustainability experience who has a genuine interest in making a positive social and environment impact in our communities and a passion for our brand.

About the Role:

  • Work with the Chief Strategy Officer, to confirm the strategic objectives of sustainability and sponsorship work at AIA NZ.
  • Develop strategies and initiatives that drive AIA NZ’s positive impact to the broader community and environment.
  • Evaluate the efficacy of sustainability programmes and drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.
  • Connect to key external groups to drive AIA NZ’s sustainability work including: Sustainable Business Council of NZ, AIA Vitality charity partners, Business NZ and Volunteer Auckland.
  • Implement the ESG strategic and tactical plans, and produce the annual AIA NZ ESG Report in consultation with business owners.
  • Plan, lead and develop community partnership and sponsorship activities ensuring AIA makes a positive impact to the communities it operates in.
  • Plan, lead and develop AIA NZ’s carbon emissions and waste reduction plans in consultation with business owners and stakeholder groups.
  • Lead the search, selection, contractual negotiations and relationship management of AIA Vitality ambassadors.
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to activate AIA Vitality ambassadors to maximum impact and effect including appearances, branded content, shared value and PR opportunities.
  • Liaise closely with AIA AU on Trans-Tasman opportunities within remit.
  • Develop robust measurement and evaluation methods to measure and monitor the effect and value of AIA NZ’s investment and involvement in sustainability, ambassadors and sponsorships.
  • Lead the voluntary Community and Environmental Champions Networks to deliver internal and external community initiatives, providing key opportunities that enable the crews to develop and succeed.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements.

About you:

  • Broad Commercial Experience.
  • Strong previous experience in sustainability is required, with a thorough understanding of sustainability practices
  • Experience in sponsorship management is essential.
  • PR experience or exposure (advantage).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantage).
  • Experience in presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders, including making recommendations on areas ranging from strategy to policy, governance, process and reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing complex relationships and managing partnership relationships – a confident, tenacious relationship builder and problem solver.
  • Insight driven, making decisions rooted in strategic fit and commercial understanding.
  • Highly self motivated and results driven.
