Job Description

Department – Data & AI, Operations IT
Enterprise Data & AI Services (ED&AIS) is a new central IT function accountable for enterprise strategy and standards in Data and AI engineering, enabling services, information data architecture as well as the delivery of data provisioning services and AI service delivery for the enterprise.   The organization works closely with Data & AI delivery teams across Customer Facing IT (CFIT) teams and data governance teams from Business Data Offices, supporting the build of the AstraZeneca Data Mesh products and analytical solutions.   Key organizational accountabilities include:
•    Delivery of re-useable Data & AI services to the enterprise including services such as Cataloguing, Privacy, Unification, Profiling, Data Quality, Engineering Orchestration, AI Ops, Model Registries etc
•    Build and run of enabling Data & AI platforms and tooling, tailored to end-to-end Line of Business processes and policies
•    Data ingestion and delivery to LoB / CFIT teams to both functional and global standards & policies ensuring compliant and secure data assets (working with LoB Data Offices).
•    Information Architecture, ensuring resultant data products are FAIR by design enabling effective re-use. 
•    Leading the delivery of advanced AI services in NLP, Computer Vision, Recommendation Engines and Predictive Modelling, supporting CFIT/LoB teams in tech solution selection, product build and the run of business critical AI solutions
•    Leading the strategy of and innovation in Data & AI technology for the enterprise, working closely with Enterprise Architecture, Tech Innovation and CFIT Data & AI teams.

Job Description / Capsule
We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative, delivery focused, technical leader as the Head of Visualisation Services and the head of ED&AI capability in our Global Technology Centres (GTC).  
This role is accountable for the delivery of Business Intelligence and Visualisation services for IT including platform support, governance, best practice guidance, training, vendor/product strategy and consultancy/engineering capacity to support reporting activities across IT.   Technologies include PowerBI, Microstrategy, Qlik and Spotfire.   Key will be leading a strategy of consolidation and alignment in BI approaches across the IT portfolio to simplify the estate.  You will manage a team of visualization engineers, operating as a Centre of Expertise for the organization.   
The role is also accountable for GTC leadership of all the ED&AI resources, mainly in India but also a presence in Mexico.  This will include the line management of a team of 100+ data and AI engineers, including overseeing recruitment, retention, reward, disciplinary and local site processes.  This is not only operational in nature but strategic: the GTCs are key delivery centres for AZ IT and the development of local partnerships with academia, start ups and major suppliers in Data & AI technologies, training and services is critical to our mission.  

Typical Accountabilities

Visualisation CoE
•    Accountable for the build and run of a Visualization centre of expertise for AstraZeneca 
•    Accountable for BI strategy for IT with respect to suppliers, services, governance, technology, training, operating model and TCO of BI in IT
•    Accountable for understanding full IT footprint for BI in IT, the total cost to operate and opportunities to reduce these operating costs whilst increasing visual analytics capability in AZ.
•    Builds strategic roadmap for CoE to support the level and type of demand being seen; sets out investment plans, business cases, resource forecasts and operating model changes to support delivery.
•    Drives and supports the AZ mission to enable self-service visualization across the organisation
•    Provides strategic direction to team of Visualisation Engineers in the delivery of their responsibilities
•    Understands business needs and requirements for visualization services by working closely with key consumers of the service
•    Partners with suppliers in understanding and influence strategic product roadmaps to ensure fit with AZ needs
•    Oversees and manages the work of teams of Visualisation Engineers, on and offshore, ensuring the quality of the delivery, guiding in best practice, problem-solving design/delivery challenges.
•    Ensure strong working relationships with AstraZeneca data and analytics stakeholder groups to develop an in-depth understanding of wider Data & AI strategy and so fit of visualization.
•    Maintain an on-going professional development in data and analytics technologies (and methodologies) to keep AstraZeneca current with advancing and changing data technology landscape and innovation.
GTC ED&AI Lead
•    Accountable for the line management of all GTC staff in ED&AI: recruitment, retention, reward and disciplinary processes, working with local HR business partners and other GTC/ED&AI leaders
•    Accountable for driving the quality and breadth of ED&AI capability in Chennai, from services, engineering, Information architecture, Artificial Intelligence etc.  Importantly lifting and enhancing the services across the organization.
•    Accountable for ensuring, with the rest of the ED&AI leadership team, the tight integration of the GTC teams into ED&AI proceses, ways of working, culture and operating model.  Will partner with LT to ensure we have the right structures, leaders, work in place for successful GTC delivery.
•    Accountable for the identification, engagement, alignment and integration of key local partners in the ED&AI mission: academic, skill suppliers, technology suppliers, start ups etc.
•    Ensuring alignment of ED&AI capability with wider GTC vision, policies and processes.
•    As a Member of the ED&AI Leadership team, active contribution to ED&AI strategy, direction, portfolio, resourcing, architecture, technology (etc) decisions
