As a Health, Safety & Environment Specialist you will be responsible for contributing to improve Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance in the respective organization to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment, in Electrification Business Area in Jiangmen, China.

Reporting to the Business Health, Safety & Env Manager, you will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to offer solutions and advice, facilitating delivery of support from the Center of Expertise (CoE) and ensuring effective risk management through HSE excellence along with ABB’s value chain.

Your responsibilities

• Reporting HSE incidents, feedback on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across ABB to management and employees. Reporting progress on implementation of ABB Group sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ABB Group, as required
• Implementing policies and standards, ensuring area of responsibility is audited according to program for audit. Assisting line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local HSE law and ABB Group policy, instructions and standards
• Facilitating HSE risks assessment by line management involving shop floor employees, i.e. those directly concerned by the hazards, and ensuring all processes are implemented
• Driving behavioral change through implementing group-wide performance improvement programs and practices locally to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the respective organization
• Engaging external (e.g. customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on ABB's HSE efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback. Cooperating with other functions, the CoE and business partners to drive HSE performance
• Ensuring appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and used. Identifying, planning and initiating training need, e.g. for employees, site managers, and agree with, and ensuring delivery of training from the CoE
• Driving and ensuring compliance with Group management systems (e.g. ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001)
• Contributing to and/or planning and executing HSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (CR) related projects. Developing and reporting on project objectives. Managing project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors

Your background

• 3 years of working experience in HSE management in manufacturing industry
• Able to deal with problems independently, strong ability to work under pressure
• Familiar with ISO45001 and ISO14001 management system, with internal auditor qualification certificate
• Excellent teamwork and conflict resolution skills
• College degree or above in safety engineering, with national registered safety engineer qualification certificate
• Excellent ability of organizing, coordination, and communication across departments
