HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT OFFICE
Health, Safety and Environment Manager (Ref. 20061815-IE)
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) collaborate with project managers, project consultants and contractors on construction safety of large-scale capex projects such as Homantin campus and Kowloon Tong student hostels;
(b) develop and implement site safety plans, programmes and procedures for the University in order to monitor and improve safety performance of contractors;
(c) review site safety documents submitted by contractors;
(d) conduct site safety inspections and audits;
(e) participate in accident investigation, give safety advices, and monitor corrective actions;
(f) prepare site safety reports;
(g) provide support for construction projects in the Chinese mainland; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Office or his/her delegates.
The appointee maybe required to work outside normal office hours when necessary.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, or Construction-related disciplines;
(b) have at least eight years of post-qualification experience at supervisory level and related to the safety of civil engineering, site foundation and infrastructure building works;
(c) be a Registered Safety Officer, preferably a Registered Safety Auditor in Hong Kong;
(d) have good knowledge of local health and safety regulations and legal requirements;
(e) have good computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
(f) have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; and
(g) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Applicants with less experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Health, Safety and Environment Manager.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
