Job Description
Eaton’s Vehicle Group division is currently seeking a candidate for the Heat Treat Flex Utility position to join our Manufacturing and Operations team. This position is based at our Kings Mountain, NC facility. Position Overview The primary function of the Heat Treat Utility Flex Technician position is to inspect, test, adjust and maintain the heat treat process for carburizing, carbonitriding, producing endothermic gas, hot oil quenching, and tempering. A high-level technical expertise is required to safely perform this job. Set-up and operate blast cleaning machines and all auxiliary equipment as assigned, load and unload metal parts from heat treat furnaces, operate loading and pushing devices of furnaces so cycles can be completed, operate load and unload car. This role is also expected to be a back-up for the Heat Treat Technicians when the assigned shift technician is absent. The standard shift for this role is Mon - Fri 6pm – 2am; however, this role is responsible for covering planned and unplanned absences in the department and must be flexible to work 6pm – 6am any day of the week as needed, within VGNA overtime guidelines. In this function you will: Reads drawings, process sheets, and adds new parts to the IDT System as well as interprets blueprints for no-carb paint application Performs inspection and testing and responds by adjusting process parameters as required. Performs statistical process control for identified variables and performs daily equipment inspections and completes inspection checklists. Monitors and controls quench oil parameters Responds to emergency conditions, including power outages, furnace malfunctions, etc. Performs minor and preventative maintenance as required and maintains work area housekeeping and assists in department/team 5S efforts Maintains control system paperwork and applicable administrative duties as required. Reports unusual conditions, safety issues or defective material to coaches. Assists in training new employees as well as assist in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing departmental and plant objectives. Performs work in a manner which supports Eaton’s Quality systems (QS, 9000, TS 16949, CQI-9), and Environmental system (ISO 14000). Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Kings Mountain, NC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
