About the city
Located at the lower reach of Yangtze River, and neighboring with Tai Lake, Suzhou of Jiangsu Province is only about 100 km to Shanghai. The city is well known for its resplendent gardens and beautiful scenery, covering an area of 5,838 square kilometers with a population of 6.35 million. Suzhou has also been an important silk industry since the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and continues to hold that prominent position today.
Reputed as the "Venice of Orient", the old town of Suzhou is still a city of canals, hump-backed bridges, and low, white washed houses. Over 100 surviving ancient gardens are scattered in the urban area. In 1997 the classical gardens including Humble Administrator's Garden, Garden of the Net Master, Pavilion of the Surging Wave, Lingering Garden and Lion Grove were added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Today’s Suzhou is an open city with developed economy and frequent exchanges with the outside world. It has been officially declared part of “the coastal economic open zone of the Yangtze Delta”. Geographically, Suzhou is located at the northern edge of the subtropical zone. It has a clear distinction of 4 seasons in a year. With a yearly average temperature of 16 degree centigrade, Suzhou’s climate is very moderate.
Adjoining Shanghai City to the east, Wuxi City to the west, Zhejiang Province to the south and facing the Yangtze River to the north, it covers an area of 8,488.42 square kilometers, 8.27% of the whole province. The city proper covers 392 square kilometers, among which 74 square kilometers is the newly added district of the city, 14.2 square kilometers is the old city.
About the School
We are located in the beautiful Suzhou Bay of Taihu Lake. It is a full-time international school. The school integrates kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, domestic high school and international high school. The school was co-founded by the People’s Government of Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Jiangsu Tianwu Group.
The school covers an area of 161 mu, with a building area of 90,000 m. The school adopts an all-intelligent campus design, all-Pad-assisted teaching, and an internationally leading teaching platform, which truly realizes a smart campus.
As a high-end and exquisite international school, we adhere to the school philosophy of “Come Here, Go Further”. Two consecutive years of international high school graduates in 2018 and 2019 received offers from the University of Cambridge Among them, 31 graduates of the 2018 International High School received a total of 131 offers, 4 per capita. More than 20% of senior high school students have applied to the top 10 universities in the world, more than 35% of students have applied to the top 30 universities in the world, and 50% of offers come from the top 50 universities in the world.
