Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced High School English Teacher to join our dynamic international learning community. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a deep appreciation for literature, language, and critical thinking, while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. This role involves teaching a diverse student body in alignment with international curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum Development
Design and deliver engaging, student-centered English Language Arts and Literature lessons for high school students (Grades 9–12).
Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the needs of diverse learners, including multilingual students.
Integrate global perspectives, intercultural understanding, and 21st-century skills into the English curriculum.
Prepare students for external examinations, assessments, or certifications as required by the school’s academic program.
Assessment & Feedback
Implement a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and personal growth.
Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and learning outcomes.
Classroom & Community Engagement
Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and intellectual curiosity.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
Student Support & Well-being
Mentor and guide students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
Support extracurricular activities such as debate clubs, literary magazines, writing workshops, or drama productions.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field (required).
Teaching certification/license (e.g., PGCE, teaching credential, or equivalent).
Master’s degree in Education, English, or TESOL (preferred).
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in high school English, preferably in an international or multicultural setting.
Familiarity with international curricula such as IB DP/AP/IGCSE/A-Level.
Experience teaching English as an additional language (EAL) students is highly desirable.
Skills & Attributes
Excellent command of the English language (native or near-native proficiency).
Strong pedagogical skills with a focus on inquiry-based and differentiated instruction.
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in a diverse community.
Technological proficiency (experience with learning management systems, digital tools, etc.).
Commitment to continuous professional growth and innovation in teaching practices.
