Job overview:
From middle school onwards, our students engage in advanced coursework, setting high expectations while establishing a solid foundation in core subjects, revisiting and reinforcing concepts in greater depth each year to prepare for entry into honors and Advanced Placement levels starting in ninth grade.
As a History teacher, you build upon this strong foundation, teaching students world history as a means to develop global perspectives and understand how and why historical events happened. You cover a wide variety of topics focused on the five major geographical regions of the globe, such as culture, economic systems, social structures, and major historical events. You also collaborate with fellow teachers to tie in lessons with what students are learning in other subjects, such as music and art.
Duties:
• Foster meaningful relationships with each student to ensure a personalized and successful learning trajectory
• Guide students in pursuing academic achievement, personal responsibility, and intellect
• Pursue continuous professional growth by participating in ongoing professional development, collaborating with colleagues, and staying informed on the latest educational techniques and best practices in your field
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative school community
Qualification:
• A Bachelor’s degree in the teaching subject or related field
o Master’s or higher is preferred
• A minimum of two years teaching experience as the lead teacher in a classroom
• An eagerness and willingness to collaborate with and elevate teaching colleagues
• High academic standards
