Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital (HKBH) is a hospital under Kowloon Central Cluster providing in-patient and out-patient services to residents of central Kowloon. As at 30 June 2019, HKBH had a total of 452 staff consisting of 16 doctors, 167 nurses, 43 allied health staff and 226 other grades of staff. HKBH provides care to patients admitted through Outpatient Department or transferred from hospitals of the cluster. The Outpatient Department provides general and specialist clinic sessions. Specialist clinics include Ear-nose-throat, Gynaecology, Medicine, Orthopaedic-Joint Replacement and Palliative Care. Inpatient services include Medicine, Orthopaedic-Joint Replacement, Palliative Care and General Convalescence.
Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital (OLMH), was founded by the Maryknoll Sisters in 1961. The Hospital has a Catholic ethos that focuses on total care for the physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs of in-patients, outpatients and ambulatory patients. As at 30 June 2019, OLMH had a total of 766 staff consisting of 74 doctors, 257 nurses, 81 allied health staff and 354 other grades of staff. There are around 240 beds providing a range of specialty and care in the fields of Medicine, General Surgery, Gynaeocology, Pediatrics and Geriatrics. The out-patient services include Family Medicine Clinic, Integrated Clinic, Specialist Clinics and Integrated Community Health Promotion Centre. The hospital’s patients mainly come from the nearby areas such as Wong Tai Sin, Tsz Wan Shan, Lok Fu, Chuk Yuen, Diamond Hill and Choi Hung districts.
Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH), established in 1965, is located in Wong Tai Sin District. As at 30 June 2019, WTSH had a total of 670 staff consisting of 27 doctors, 255 nurses, 52 allied health staff and 336 other grades of staff. There are 551 beds, distributed in 13 wards. WTSH was first developed as an infirmary to treat chronically ill elderly people. It has gradually expanded also as an extended care institution, in which intensive trans-disciplinary rehabilitative training programmes are designed for patients with chronic chest diseases, physical handicaps and complicated geriatric problems to facilitate their early reintegration into society. A Geriatric Day Hospital, opened in 1995, provides continual care and treatment of discharged elderly patients. With The Board of Management of The Chinese Permanent Cemeteries Palliative Care Centre being put in service in 2008, WTSH had developed palliative care services for patients with cancers and end stage renal diseases ever since. In general, WTSH provides convalescent care for patients suffering from medical, geriatrics, surgical, orthopaedics and neurosurgical problems, with rehabilitation service programmes covering pulmonary, stroke, geriatric and musculoskeletal diseases. While accepting referrals for subacute and extended care from Kwong Wah Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, WTSH also treats patients with tuberculosis and sub-acute chest diseases, with patients coming from Chest Clinics and referrals from other hospitals in Kowloon and the New Territories.
Job
Successful candidate will report to the Cluster Chief Executive (Kowloon Central) and the Hospital Governing Committees of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital, Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital and TWGHs Wong Tai Sin Hospital. He/she will be the overall Hospital Chief Executive of the three hospitals with the following key responsibilities:
- Lead the management team, health care professionals and supporting staff in the respective hospitals to ensure their effective provision of quality patient-centred health care service.
- Establish and implement strategic directions, operational objectives, plans and policies for the hospitals to maximize and further their potential.
- Manage the daily operations of the hospitals and work closely with the community and other relevant key stakeholders to achieve the highest level of performance.
- Manage the budgets and resources within the hospitals and be accountable for the results.
- Contribute to the effective and efficient management of the Cluster by participating in relevant management groups.
Requirements
- Tertiary education.
- Considerable senior management experience in health care services.
- Good knowledge of the operation of public hospitals in Hong Kong.
- Strong leadership qualities as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical, innovative and committed to achieving strategic results.
- Possession of medical/health care administration qualification a definite advantage whilst not mandatory.
- Demonstrated success in leading a multi-disciplinary team.
Pay
This is a senior executive role and will be remunerated accordingly and commensurate with the skills, knowledge and experience of the successful applicant.
