Housekeeping Manager

You lead at the heart of the hotel! As a Housekeeping Manager, you will show your leadership and interpersonal strengths to maximize the Housekeeping Operations and our guests Feel Welcome from the minute they step into their room.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the Housekeeping department and ensure all service standards are followed with friendly and engaging service
  • Handle guest concerns and react quickly, tracking and notifying proper areas to guarantee memorable moments for our guests
  • Mentor, coach and develop Housekeeping colleagues through ongoing training, timely feedback, meaningful recognition, and valuable performance appraisals
  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping in the administration and management of housekeeping, including but not limited to: payroll, scheduling, supply and inventory control, uniforms & linen
  • Maximize rooms revenue by monitoring efficiency, productivity and cost controls that are essential to luxury guest services
  • Contribute to a positive hotel culture by exceeding expectations of our four pillars (colleagues, owners, guests and brand) 
  • Support the action planning as a result of the Colleague Engagement Survey
  • Ensure five star standards of cleanliness are met at all times in guest rooms, public and heart of house spaces
  • Collaborate with the Engineering department to support preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure effectiveness of lost and found policy and follow-up
  • Promote health, safety and wellbeing of our guests and colleagues by having in-depth knowledge of Hotel's crisis and emergency procedures
  • Promote safe working environment by managing attendance, reporting and preventing workplace hazards, reporting workplace accidents, and participating in return-to-work programs
  • Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures
  • Implement ECOSURE, LQA & ALLSAFE action planning to improve year-over-year performance
  • Actively participate in hotel committees
  • All other duties and special projects as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

  • Service focused personality is essential with previous leadership experience
  • Minimum 2 years in a Housekeeping department preferred
  • University degree or hotel management diploma an asset
  • Prior experience working with Opera or a related system
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
  • Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively
  • Multi-tasker who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including rotating shifts (AM/PM/Overnight), weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed

Physical Job Requirements include:

  • Split time between walking/standing on guest floors and sitting at desk
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
